Per her website:

Please note that Laura will be on vacation from Gypsy to fufill part of her Eli Stone contract from Thursday, September 25 through Sunday, September 28th.

(Jessica Rush will be playing Louise on these dates... there will also be some dates in October to finish out the Eli Stone contract, which will be posted on her website as soon as they are nailed down.)

Wow. That's a twofer right there. Not only is she taking a ridiculously short vacation (which makes my odds of going out there again and not missing her much higher), but now I also know that she'll be returning, at least somewhat, to Eli Stone (a tremendously underrated show, especially if you like musicals). I had just assumed that she would not ever reappear since she's doing Gypsy. Thanks much for the info!

I saw Jessica in the role...she did a really nice job!! she was very honest in her portrayal. And she had great chemistry with Boyd and Patti!

She asked the writers last year to scale her back so that she could do Gypsy, and they were kind enough to agree, so she is splitting her vacation into three so she can fly out to LA and film Eli Stone and still maintain her Gypsy schedule.

She was in it again today - Jessica - and she was great. Not as good as Laura, but certainly excellent.

Where on her website does it update about her absences and stuff? I can't seem to find this info about her vacation dates.

I saw Jessica as Louise on Wednesday evening and thought she was really strong.

Not as good as Benanti, obviously, but she brought a lot of new dimensions to the role and was especially believable during THE STRIP. She made it very clear how she was changing through that number alone.

Her LITTLE LAMB was also simple and beautiful.

I'm going to be in New York and was planning on seeing Gypsy on Thurs. 10/16 and was really looking forward to seeing Laura. Oh well, glad to hear Jessica's a solid Louise.
