Laura Benanti and the Twitter Takedown

I think that woman was an a$$h*le, but she clearly had no idea why Benanti was absent from the show. It’s not like she said “How dare you tend to your sick child instead of going to work!” She was just really rude.

Also, Benanti (and other performers) doesn’t owe anyone explanations about why she takes sick, vacation, or personal days.

Laura is one of the most considerate about that. Whenever she knows she has to be out, she lets people know. If someone chooses not to check and then complains, that's on them.

Which is why Lincoln Center's website has all of her absences in advance, and if you call before the show, they will let you know as well. There is no excuse.

Clearly that's not the case since you defended her TWICE. I always call before a show if I am going to the show to see a specific person. Obviously the dolt was going to see Laura. It's common sense to call first because emergencies do happen. Unplanned absences are not on the website, however, if she had called two hours beforehand, the box office staff would have told her that Laura was not in that day, as my friend did. My friend rescheduled. It's not that hard.....
