did anyone see her in the play she was starring last year...was it "Sight Unseen" or something like that? i was just watching "Kinsey" she was brilliant in this film...she totally deserved her Oscar nomination.
...deserves a Tony very soon. Her talent far exceeds so many other straight Broadway and Hollywood actors, in my opinion.
How much do I love to hate her in HBO's "Laramie Project"? A lot.
She'll an incredible actress. She was fantastic in SIGHT UNSEEN, and even better in THE CRUCIBLE four years ago.
She's tied with Julianne Moore for my favorite actress.
I WISH I'd seen her in both plays. My first experience with Linney was seeing her guest star on the last season of Fraiser and she was less-than impressive. Perhaps she's just not cut out for sitcoms, I don't know.
Anyway, THEN I saw her in The Exorcism of Emily Rose and she blew me away. She's just AMAZING. She needs an Oscar for that, but I fear critics didn't enjoy the movie (not the kind of "controversial" they like, I suppose), so I doubt she'll get the nod. Then I'll have to kick someones @$$.
If you want a Laura Linney treat, catch the Tales of the City mini-series. While the movies aren't anywhere near as much fun as the books, Laura Linney is terrific as Mary Ann.
I've loved her ever since.
I love Laura Linney. She's great in "You Can Count on Me." She deserves more recognition than she's gotten; it would be great if she won a Tony or an Oscar.
being nominated for an Oscar...it's a huge recognition !!!
I loved her in "The Life of David Gale"
Laura Linney finally got the recognition she deserved these past few years with her Tony and Oscar nods. She got lots of critical appraisal for The Squid and the Whale but I hardly think she'll get nominated for an Oscar. I love her in Kinsey, she was mind-blowing.

I've always found Laura Linney to be somewhat "butch". Anyone agree?

Tales of the City is like the best, truly a must see! Although, yes, the books are even better, but Laura Linney is spectacular in that. I wish I could get to see her in some theater!
yes...she is kinda butch i guess....she looked horrible at the Oscars...even tho she is a pretty girl....it was funny what Kathy Griffin said about her...lol
She's . . . odd looking. But I think that's part of her appeal. She's not movie star perfect looking, ya know?
Then again, I'm probably just weird.
I was completely enthralled when I saw her and Liam Neeson in The Crucible... After that, i was a sworn fan. She's a scene-chewer, doing some especially incredible work in The Squid And The Whale. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to see her in Sight Unseen. Hopefully, she will soon come back to the boards in something worthy of her talents...
She's one of my favorite actresses and I think she's beautiful. I can't wait for her to return to Broadway...soon!
she is beyond amazing and the fact that she does both stage and screen work just makes me lover her. you may call her butch but her feminine side in love actually was adorable to watch and i orgasm at the thought of her in the crucible. Shes gorgeous and i love her
She's in so many movies I love... I adored her in "Love Actually" and "The Truman Show"...

I agree that she's one of the best in the business. She elevates everything she's in.
I agree that Laura is an amazing actress who is highly underated.
She's also one of the nicest, most humbke, and most gracious people I've ever met. I was volunteer ushering a Mario Cantone show at the Roundabout and I seated several high profile celebs (Natalie Portman and Sarah Jessica Parker are a couple of others that come to mind). I didn't talk to any of them out of repect except Laura Linney. I had just recently seen her in The Mothman Prophecies and I had to tell her how great I thought she was (I'm from a town in WV about 50 miles away from where the event in take movie take place). She was so sweet and kind and gorgeous. I could go on and on. If you want to see Laura Linney at her best I definately reccomend all three Tales of the City DVDs and a small film she made called P.S.

YES I was wondering when someone would mention "P.S.!" Such great work that she did, in that film. She'll get her Oscar someday.
I love her. I think she is an unbelievable actress and that she is STUNNING. She is perfect in "The Life of David Gale" and is great in comedy, especially "Love Actually" She is so talented.
Kind of an interesting fact: Laura is the daughter of playwright, Romulus Linney. His sole Broadway credit is The Love Suicide at Schofield Barracks from 1972. He has had numerous plays produced off-broadway with the most recent ones being A Lesson Before Dying(2000) and 2: Goering at Nuremburg(1995). He has premiered several works and has done a lot for the theatre department of my alma mater, Appalachian State in NC. I got to see Laura Linney in The Crucible and thought she gave a fabulous performance opposite Liam Neeson. I have also enjoyed her film work.
