She's wonderful as Ilse, but I guess everyone's got to leave at some point. Will she be taking Skylar Astin with her? (That's only a half-serious question.)
"How does that make sense? If she's gotten WORSE, why would now be the time to go?"
I think what was meant by this statement was that it's time for Lauren to go, not for us to go see the show.

Yeah, I meant now is the best time for her to leave the show before she gets even worse.
You see, Jake, I knew what you meant haha
Yea, Lauren's performance has definitely gotten weak. As a past avid viewer of the show, sometime between Mid-May and Mid-June of 2007 I noticed the change in her voice. Her acting lessened, too, and it detracted from the show.
I feel bad for saying that, but she used to be my favorite cast member, and she's currently at the bottom.
Ah, it sounded like you meant to go see the show.
I saw the second preview and found her act to be dreadful, so I can't even imagine what it's like if die-hard SA fans are saying it's gotten worse.
Her acting is truly atrocious. She rushes her lines and shows absolutely zero emotion. It's sad to watch Blake have nothing to work with during Don't Do Sadness/Blue Wind.
She has a great voice, which is why recording an album is the best possible career move for her. I'm not a fan of hers by any means, but I wish her tons of luck on her album, and I will most likely buy her album. Acting is just not for her.
I must be one of the few who found her acting to be exceptional. Unlike the rest of the cast, she didn't make everything overwraught and hyperdramatic. I thought her low-key portrayal of Ilse was just what the character called for, and she executed it nicely.

I can see what you mean by low key, but in my opinion, that was really a lack of emotion or any effort at all to do well.
I can see where the it might be seen as a "lack of emotion" but if you look at the character of Ilse and how its written, she's not really a... bubbly personality, is she?
Anyway- each to his own, I just gotta stand up for lauren!

Having seen some of the understudies, bubbly is the way the character can be played. In that scene, Ilse is desperately trying to impress Moritz. She tells him all of the cool things she's done. Lauren just sounds dead when she's talking.
Yes but I think she's trying to impress with how unimpressed she is by her life. Only having seen the show once, and from the balcony nonetheless, I suppose I could've taken her "dead" delivery for an interesting and effective character choice, thus reading her all wrong... but, as it is, I enjoyed her very much and think she has a top notch voice to boot!
I agree. Her acting was the best out of all the girls, IMO, and I really liked the fact that she didn't play Ilse like a cartoon character. (Remy and Phoebe are cringe-worthy compared to her.)
How recently have you seen Lauren? Her line readings as of late have been extremely cartoonish.

To be fair, Remy and Phoebe both have much smaller roles. And Phoebe, while vocally way less impressive, really characterized Ilse well when she went on for the role.
My friend Emma Hunton will replace Lauren Pritchard Feb 19. Official announcement to come. She will be amazing!!!

Caroline Q, I agree. Lauren Pritchard was wonderful as Ilse. I agree with what you said about her portrayal. I didn't find it dull, but thought it matched the character of Ilse.
Lauren Pritchard was great as Ilse..evrything..acting, voice..amaazing
I always thought she was one of the strongest in the cast.

I watched Lauren grow up in Tennessee, and she has always been an exceptional stage performer. When she was six years old, she performed as Gretl in The Sound of Music and totally stole the show. It was, I believe, her first big show, and her tiny solo in "So Long, Farewell" blew people away. After that, she had the lead role in everything- or at least the largest child role that was available. She learned very early on that she was talented, and she let it go to her head quite often, throwing fits and demanding tantrums- of course, she was a child, so some of that is expected.
I've seen Spring Awakening four times, and I can see what people say about her performance going downhill- she is still amazing and completely owns the musical aspect of the show... but you can tell she is bored with the role. She recently returned home (by recently I mean a few months ago) and brought Skylar with her. It was obvious that she had changed- both matured obviously and gotten a little full of herself. I am happy for her and for her success, and I have no doubt that she's got a great career in front of her, but I agree with the posters who say that it is time for her to go. I think it's best- both for the show and for Lauren herself. She is and always has been a girl who needs to shine, and I think her star in Spring Awakening has faded.

I loved Lauren when I saw her and I'm sad that I won't get to see her again before she leaves. But I'm so excited to see a new Ilse.
Has anyone heard about Lauren's replacement yet?
Lauren's voie is AMAZING, my favorite in the show, but I too agree that her acting is atrocious!!! I think the girl has a lot a big things in her futer, but if she plans on continuing her acting career she needs a little help! I wish the best for her
