I tried to listen to it when it was available for a first listen on iTunes, but I got sort of bored a few songs in.

While I agree that getting a fair and balanced thread about LM on here is not gonna happen, I must say that I honestly gave her album a chance. I listened to it twice on itunes and confess that I actually wanted to like it.

But whatever my personal feelings about her may be, her song selection was sub-par and she simply wasn't able to add the "something" to them which would have raised them above mediocre.

I listen to a lot of pop but it's just not a good pop album. "My heart's too drunk to drive..". The songs aren't right for her voice. I like her mostly but this direction was the wrong way to take her, she's not a pop star.

She knows that expectations would be high for her music. It just wasn't very commercial in my opinion. Battlefield was the best song in my opinion.

I know it's popular to rag on her but overall I really enjoyed the cd. Battlefield, Cue The Rain, Thousand Needles, and Empty Handed are all gems IMO. I think it's a nice debut effort and she sounds so beautiful. Her next cd will be better I think.

I hope her next album is influenced by her baby, like Madonna's "Ray of Light" was.
