Was it just me or was she having pitch problems? I am thinking she could not hear the music or was nervous. Maybe she was not all that excited about doing it? I was confused because she is usually spot on.

Agreed. Although, I think the sound must’ve been an issue. I felt
like the majority of performers sounded a little off tbh. I’m sure nerves played a little part too. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen her perform live, right?

I thought she sounded fine, except for the opening song which is one of the worst songs I’ve heard in a very long time. Nobody could have saved that one.

Some of it is done in studio and other numbers are live. I was not paying attention with her numbers, although it seemed the last few were live. I agree the first number ,whichI think she wrote, was rather silly and the rhymes were causing me to chuckle, sort of like when were would make up rhymes as kids.

I wonder who is managing her career? Seems like she could have had the potential to take off.

I would guess that since she released a Christmas album, her manager probably thought this could be a good way to promote the album.

She was on Glee for many years...doesn't get much cheesier than that.  Also this program gets tons of viewers and alot of exposure for her.

Didn't see the program but in the past there have been problems with pitch problems at this event. The reason? Cold (or even just chilly) temperatures do strange things to vocal chords. Even Dame Kiri Te Kanawa sounded bad when she sang live at Rockefeller Center.

Lea did a TV movie called “Same Time, Next Christmas” that aired on ABC. It was as cheesy as the Christmas movies on Lifetime and Hallmark.

Let's see.  Lea Michelle was in this Rockefeller Center show.  Her TV movie was released this week.  She has a new album out.  She has appeared on numerous "talk shows" ("Today," "Kelly Clarkson," etc.).  Yeah, it appears that at the age of 33 her career is crashing around her.

Get real.

Yes, her songs were live. And that first one was...definitely not good. I remember wondering if it was in any key at all. I don't recall anything of it it beyond that.

But it's worth noting that the production that goes into this is complex. Only a handful of the artists from the special were actually performing live (versus pre-tape). In the roughly 6-7 minutes of John Legend singing a song (pre-taped) and a commercial break, they've changed over the entire staging including decorations, drum kits, and pianos (they moved a grand piano on and off the stage 4 separate times that night) for the next person because they did NOT tape their 2-3 songs in one set. They were alternating just as you saw on the broadcast.

Then, there's only one (1) soundcheck and one dress rehearsal and that's it. Godspeed to the production team and the revolving door of guest sound techs and for someone's monitor to be off and result in pitch problems really just isn't that unlikely. In fact, it's impressive it doesn't happen more often!

Her belted higher notes were good but the rest was ... um ... simply awful.

She sounded dreadful. my partner said to me while watching...what happened to her voice?
