Just to clear things up, my friend was the music director for the CD she recorded "For Good" for, and he said that she was THINKING about ending her concert with the song. That's all I heard.

i love her..but no.
well, i know earlier when it was getting to the time to find a replacement 4 idina, they were trying to get alanis morissette as elphaba, which I actually think could work, but to be honest, NO ONE is gonna be as good as Idina was and everyone who is with wicked knows that.
I have to disagree with your last comment thepopularone. I love Wicked and have been following the show for almost a year now, and don't get me wrong, I love Idina but I think the many other women who have played Elphaba over time have been just as good. Idina has an amazing, powerful voice and she certainly gave performances we wont soon forget, but I thought Shosh and Eden and Stephanie (they are the only other Elphies I've actually heard) did just as well. They all brought a new perspective and personality to Elphie. It's true, Shosh wasnt as powerful (belting wise) but she was still amazing in the role. And Eden just blew me away. That's just my two cents on the matter.
I've heard Eden, Shoshana and Idina, and I think the factor of who does the part best is Idina. A big part is because the show is tailored to Idina's strong notes. Idina's money note is a C, so all her songs end on a C. Eden's money note is an F, which is why she belts so freaking high in Brooklyn. They're all fantastic, though.
Yeah I think that definitly plays a big role, the fact that all the songs were written to suit Idina. Though they did make some minor changes for each individual actress, the songs were written for Idina and Kristin to sing so its obvious that they probably sound best singing it. Though, as said above, all three women as Elphaba were phenomenal.
i think lea would be great..and about her voice not being right..everyone that plays the part doesn't have to sound like idina. a different sounding voice playing the part might add some freshness to the show.
Not a belter? I just saw Lea Saturday 2-26 at the cavernous 4500 seat Arie Crown Theatre in Chicago. The entire 2 1/2 hours of her singing was fantastic. She sang "When October Goes" at one point. If that is not belting, then I don't know what is. She was simply breathtaking. She even did a meet and greet after the show and she is a sweetie!
I just can't see it. I don't think she has the voice to pull it off 8 times per week. I thought her Eponine was weakly sung..and Eponine is a walk in the park compared to Elphaba.
"they were trying to get alanis morissette as elphaba"
I think she'd be good.

Wicked was written with Stephanie J. Block in mind...not Idina.
