If this has already been posted, please call me on it. I didn't have the patience to sift through the search.
Is this the complete list of those elligible this year:
Julie White
Vanessa Redgrave
Eve Best
Marian Seldes
Angela Lansbury
Annie Parisse
Julianne Moore
The top 3 are the obvious nominee choices. Who will get the last 2 spots?
Julie White
Vanessa Redgrave
Eve Best
Julianne Moore
Angela Lansbury
Swoosie Kurtz.

Swoosie. Completely forgot about her....and that Heartbreak House even existed this season.
Eve Best
Vanessa Redgrave
Julie White
They are locks.
Parisse doesn't have a chance, and I think Swoosie Kurtz will be remembered.
It will probably to to Lansbury out of respect, but she really doesn't deserve it.
I think that Julie White has an excellent chance of winning.
When do they announce the nominees?
Considering the early word regarding Deuce I think Julie White's chances have improved considerably.
I think it will be:
Eve Best, A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN
Julie White, THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED
Marian Seldes, DEUCE
Angela Lansbury, DEUCE
Vanessa Redgrave, THE YEAR OF MAGICAL THINKING
and I think Eve Best will win. She got great reviews and the show is doing splendidly at the box office...
Seldes and Lansbury don't have a shot at winning according to how awful I've heard DEUCE is; they will simply get nods for being legends. Redgrave already has two Tonys and the show was not very warmly recieved (which hinders her Tony chances considering she is the only person in the entire show). White is Best's closest competitor and while I'd love to see her win (and I do think she has a chance at doing so), the show closed too early for most voters to see it.
I think Best is a pretty good bet to take home the gold.
I think it'll come down to Best and White, with Best having the upper hand because her play is currently running.
Lansbury will get a nomination out of respect, Seldes might not even get that though.
I wouldn't count Julie White out SOLELY because her show closed so long ago. If you remember from last season, Cynthia Nixon won for Rabbit Hole, which closed in early April. Granted, that's not February, but still.
But weren't all the plays with nominated actresses closed by then?
I hadn't thought of that. Lisa Kron was nominated and Well had just closed a few weeks before, but all of the other nominees' shows had closed much earlier. I had forgotten. Regardless though, Cynthia still would have won had her show closed in November, in my opinion.

wickedrocks - Vanessa Redgrave has won only once and that was on her first and to date, only nomination.
I honestly think that Julie White has the advantage.
I haven't seen MOON yet, but out of the other nominees, it's the only performance that has a WOW factor to it.
If her show were still running, she would totally win. I still think she's the frontrunner.
Oh, munk, I hope so.
And, Eve Best is not American.
Help her or hurt her?
^ Don't know enough about the politics for that, but I can say she is absolutely amazing. I saw Moon for the second time yesterday. Unlike previews, where almost everyone was standing when Kevin came out for his bow, only about 50-75 people stood for him, but the second Eve appeared, the house was on its feet.
And the best part? She still looks genuinely surprised at the reaction and reception she gets. Kind of like a little kid seeing Cinderella's Castle at the Magic Kingdom for the first time.
I'd thought earlier Vanessa Redgrave was a lock, but I'm really leaning towards Eve Best now.
Perhaps Best will win (it's beginning to sound that way), but I'm so partial to White that my opinion here is probably a bit jaded.
Yeah I haven't seen the competitors that White has (though I do want to see Redgrave and Best), but it really doesn't matter to me. Julie White gave a performance that was beyond words that I even had to o back and see it again before it closed.
"My word... You want my, WHAT type of negotiation ploy is THIS? What type of a mind f**k is this? My word? It's the last thing I have left. My word? You're asking a whore for her cherry."
- She was so brilliant during this part.

I adored both White and Best... my love for White even more impressive considering I thought "Little Dog Laugh" was pretty lousy besides her.
If either of them wins, I'd be happy.
If forced to vote, I think I'd go for Best by a hair. What about you guys?

Angela Lansbury and Julie White.

That's exactly how I felt about Eve Best's performance. I didn't see LDL ~ I'm not really into non-musical comedies, and even with musical ones I'm picky ~ so I can't really comment on White.
But on Best... For her to carry the emotion of the play from moment one to moment 2 hours 50 minutes, but inserting humor where it should be... She is truly staggering and has gotten even more so as she's settled into Broadway.
And like you, I had to go back at least one more time. May still go back again, but the rest of the weekends are iffy, so I went when I knew I could.
