Ths is good news. The shorter the strike, the better for everyone.
Could the city or state impose a cooling-off period?
I doubt very seriously the union would agree to it
Great PR for the union would be to table the strike until January to avoid the massive hurt this will cause during the holiday season.
I doubt it will happen however.

"Naturally, localonecrew has left the room after making a specious and completely untrue statement (about the producers and their lawyers). Perhaps a saner head from the union told him it doesn't do their case any good to have people on a public message board posting things that make them look like complete idiots.
Why are they back to the tables on Saturday? Because a certain Mayor talked to BOTH sides and told them it would be in everyone's best interests to do so. This he said as strongly as possible, and both sides got the message. "
1.i went to bed, early day on the pickets
2. the information i provided is 100% correct
3. your information is 100% incorrect. the mayor had NOTHING to do with the 2 sides returning to the table. Disney and the shuberts initiated the talks on saturday.
tell your producer masters that nobody is believing their lies.

"Fosse76, sorry, you are incorrect. Which is why localonecrew and the rest of his cronies have disappeared."
You couldn't be any more wrong. The mayor has absolutely no control over either of the parties and therefore couldn't influence their decision at all. Otherwise they would have met on Tuesday.

I'm glad both side are finally coming to their sense to discuss their issues and finally resolve them. I swear, both parties are acing like a bunch of babies...refusing to talk...get over yourselves and get tgether to resolve this!

I have no producer "friends", I'm afraid. You made a specious post that had no basis in reality. It was nauseating. Like many of your posts. As I've said repeatedly, I have many local one friends, and they are embarrassed when I point them to your posts. The Mayor did not force anyone to do anything - he can't, but if you don't think he was involved you really are a hopeless Fantasyland dweller, and so is Fosse76. In fact, it was reported in the press about his missive to both sides.

the press reported that the league and the union notified the mayor about the talks. anyone here can look those up and see that you are the profound liar here.
as to your "local one friends", i call shenanigans. we all got the news from our BA's. the news as repeated by me, here.
cut your losses and go tell your lies on some league message board.

You are fooling no one. If you think I'm a league shill you are an even bigger idiot than I thought - I post under my real initials here and I make no secret about who I am. Why don't you come out from your anonymous shell so I know who I'm conversing with? No, you won't do that, because frankly I think your own union officials would be interested to know who you really are.
You don't read news reports very carefully. As I said, I know people on both sides of the table and your original post in this thread was obnoxious and untrue, like most of what you've posted here. Why don't YOU go post on some Union board, but even then, they'd probably laugh at you.

I post under my real initials here
And certainly no other man in the world has the initials bk...

I think on this particular message board it is no secret who bk is. And while I'm sure there are plenty other bks in the world, no one else posts under those initials here.
Broadway Star Joined: 8/31/03
so, please enlighten this fool. who is BK?
a league shill who cant properly read a newspaper?
or, crusader of justice and truth?
tell us BK, who are you?
Localonecrew, check your pms.

ok, so we'll say that the mayor called both sides up and said, "hey you guys need to go back to the table right now. it's in everyone's best interest to." what does that even mean? are they going to be swimming with the fishes if they don't negotiate? and how do you know this thing is going to be resolved by monday? sure, come monday everyone *might* be back at work, but that doesn't mean that it's resolved.

the local rebuffed the mayors advances numerous times. Bk doesnt want to say the truth, again as reported by the news numerous times, and admit that the producers have blinked.

And who are you, localonecrew? Union shill, crusader of justice, stirrer of the pot?
I'm sure shubert alley has PMd you by now and you know exactly who I am. Not a producer, not a member of local one, just a professional who's a proud member of many unions and who's been working steadily in show business in one capacity or another since 1970, who has worked both sides of the table, worked with many of the casts of shows you've probably crewed, and one who's recorded many Broadway singers, cast albums, and who's provided lots of employment over the years. That's who I am. Who are you, pal? Step up to the plate - show some guts.
BK, I wasn't pming him about you. I was simply asking him if we worked at the same show. Turns out we don't. I have no idea who you are. Updated On: 11/15/07 at 08:11 PM

And that's what happened. Did it work? I don't know, both sides are going back to the table. What most assuredly did NOT happen is what Mr. Localonecrew says in his original post. Will it be over on Monday? That's my guess, and I base it on the AFM strike of a few years ago, in which the week-long strike was settled in one day. I believe I said "in my opinion" but if I didn't let me say "in my opinion." I'm not the one making with the rhetoric here.

i am a speaker of truth and a pot stirrer :)
as to who we both are, you said everyone knows who you are. i dont. you first.

ahh, backpedaling already. you said the reason they were going back is because of the mayor. now you sing a different tale.
my version is the true version. not the backpedaling lies of the self aggrandizing BK's.

Aw, now, if you can't tell from my last post, I just don't know what to tell you. Check your PM from shubert alley. You can figure it out - check out the Drowsy Chaperone thread. The truth is out there. And you are? C'mon, let's hear it.

You've said that you're part of a union, have worked in the industry since 1970 and your initials are bk.
Sorry, dude, that doesn't exactly narrow it down.
Most people on this board don't take the time to track back through every post you've ever made to try and piece together your identity.
Frankly, I've never seen your username prior to this thread, so I personally have no bloody clue who you are.
BK, I repeat, I have no earthly idea who you are. The pm I sent localonecrew was from a few days ago, he'd never gotten back to me, and when I saw him on this thread I told him to check his pms. I should have asked him to do so on another thread because it's right in the middle of your altercation and therefore looks suspicious. I do not know you, I did not tell him who you are, and my pm had nothing to do with you.

in other words, everyone supposedly knows who you are here but you are not going to say.
you have now officially become a boring poseur. added to the fact that you are a liar, a backpedaler, and a self-aggrandizer and that makes one sorry ass human.
you are now dismissed.
next!

Backpedaling? Your mate said it might have happened. I said it had. Doesn't seem like back pedaling to me. The fact is the call was made and the two sides are going back to the table. Whether that's just coincidental is anyone's guess - I don't think it's coincidental. Your account is pure unadulterated horse manure.

Well, you would know all about boring poseurs, being the master poseur. I am Bruce Kimmel (BK). I have been an actor, director, writer, record producer of many Bway singers (Liz Callaway, Emily Skinner, Alice Ripley, Laurie Beechman, Randy Graff, Brent Barrett, Jason Graae, Rebecca Luker, Sally Mayes and on and on) and cast albums (the revivals of Hello, Dolly, The King And I, Little Me, and tons of off-Broadway shows, including I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change), the Unsung Musicals and Lost In Boston series, well, over 150 albums and counting. Okay? Now, who are you? I think we'll get the real tale right now.
