I did a search on this topic and came up empty. My daughter went to SA yesterday. She did the stage door and was talking with Leah Michelle who casually mentioned that she would most likely be moving on to Wicked. Has anyone else heard about this? I don't understand why she would leave such a high profile show. My daughter was so dumbstruck she forgot to ask when the move would be and what part she would be playing.
Lea has said many times that she would love to play Elphaba, but I doubt that it's happening soon. From what I can tell, Lea is very happy in Spring Awakening. She probably meant that someday she would like to be in the show, but not now.
Oh my God, someone was able to put both shows in one thread.
Is she any relation to Lea Michele?
Anyway, that would be great for her because she has said that she'd love to play Elphaba (as Allie said). However, I don't think she'll leave SA just yet.
She has a Spring Awakening contract for at least a year. She already gave up a chance at the high profile Les Miz revival to do Spring Awakening. I dont think she would leave it early to be a replacement in a show that will run another 10 years.
Was she up for Eponine or Cosette in the Les Mis revival?

Eponine.
She wasn't up for it - she had it. They announced that she'd be playing the role, but she withdrew (Iassume) before contracts were drawn because of Spring Awakening transfer.

If someone can just work RENT into this thread, the trifecta will be complete.
oh believe me, david stone approached lea a few months ago about a stint in wicked. it will be happening, its just a matter of when. and my guess is, look for an announcement around the time her 1 yr contract is over with SA.
Any hint as to which production?
omg lea should do wicked, instead of spring awakening, which people say is the new rent!
there we go
Uhm, am I the only one who thinks Lea's voice, while beautiful, is not nearly powerful enough to do elphaba?
I mean she doesnt seem to have the same vocal power as Murney or Eden... I just dont see it at all.
Lea for Galinda '08!
If Lea and Wicked ever happens in the near future, then well it's just going to add to my problems to life...<3
i agree that she should be nessa IF in wicked.

I could def imagine Lea making a wonderful Elphaba... but I'm pretty sure she has no intentions of leaving Spring Awakening to do so :) Its just a dream role of hers, as she stated in an interview a while back.
but yeah, I'd kill to hear her I'm Not That Girl- it would be so hauntingly beautiful!
(oh, and while I can totally see why people might guess her voice wouldn't be powerful enough, we can't really judge that too well, can we? I mean, she could have a terrific, powerful belt but it just doesn't come into play in Spring Awakening, you know? I wouldn't put it past her to have a lot more vocal power than is shown from the songs in SA :))
I love Lea, but see her more as a Nessa than Elphie.
I don't doubt she's talented, but I haven't heard enough to support the idea she can belt out those notes as Elphaba. But I have only heard her on the SA cast album so if anyone can prove me wrong, go!
agreed, becoz. especially if the show does well come award-time. *crosses fingers*
wendla is made for her, i would hate to see her leave it. but, since she has often been compared to idina menzel, i'm sure she would be a phenominal elphaba. i would pay to see her in that role. but with that said, i think she should stay put in such a fantastic show and role that is perfect for her.
love to lea! <3 =)
I agree that physically and vocally (from what I've heard from her thus far....) that Lea seems to be better suited for Glinda or Nessa. She is petite, quite lovely and certainly sweet-voiced.
However, I've only heard her as a child and as Wendla. The role of Wendla is certainly not demanding vocally.
But the fact that she was cast as Eponine certainly implies that there is a BIG voice in there. Elphie? Could be....
I, for one, would LOOOOOVE to hear sister friend belt one out.... so let's go, Lea! Watcha got?

Lea's voice actually reminds me of Idina's(haven't heard Lea belt yet though, but we don't know she can't do it) so I can see it.
