There is only one thing that relly irks me in Sondheim's body of work, and I have stated it many times before.
That would be Bobby singing 'Being Alive' at the end of COMPANY.
It is a beautiful song with poignant lyrics, however it is extremely untrue to character.
Sondheim has described it as his 'cop-out' ending, because Hal Prince wanted a happier ending than the cynical 'Happily Ever After' that 'Being Alive' replaced.
Othert than that the show, along with all of his other shows, is a masterpiece.
"One no longer loves one's insight enough once one communicates it."
The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.
