re: Least favorite Broadway show?

Oh, Saturday Night Fever was dreadful, you're right.
Footloose is also just as dreadful....funny so was Urban Cowboy...and Good Vibrations.....pattern?

42nd Street
Flower Drum Song
Thoroughly Modern Millie (though I like the recording... years after I saw the show)

re: Least favorite Broadway show?

There's a few Jason Robert Brown songs (some which i think were lost before the Bway opening) from Urban Cowboy that I think are AMAZING.
[title of show] on Broadway. it's time. believe.

re: Least favorite Broadway show?

Hello Dolly, The Music Man, Mamma Mia

...I just HATE the music.

re: Least favorite Broadway show?

Rent has overstayed its welcome. The more I hear that music, the more grating it becomes. Also, whatever artistic cred it has has been lost by its transformation into a showcase for the latest late '90s pop star trying to stage a comeback and American Idol rejects. Time to move on.

I STRONGLY disagree with you, goose. Wow.

Little REd: HELLO DOLLY and THE MUSIC MAN? Seriously?

SuddenlyTrey: I actually really enjoyed URBAN COWBOY - some of the music was wonderful, and the entire cast was great. It was a brilliant flop compared to today's flops (BKLYN, GV)

re: Least favorite Broadway show?

While I agree that Rent isn't exactly the same animal it was in '95, it's certainly still brilliant and wonderful and more deserving of being on Broadway than a lot of currently running shows, in my opinion.
Awww I <3 The Music Man!
And I have a special place in my heart for Urban Cowboy. Those JRB songs... damn. And all of the leads ROCKED! Matt Cavenaugh, Jenn Collela, Sally Mayes (!), and Leo Burmester are all amazing...
stylinbohemian- did you maybe see a bad regional production of South Pacific? Because I'm sure it can be pretty boring when not done well (I have experienced this myself with most Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals). Where did you see it?

I totally agree with goose. I used to LIVE rent. now its integrity, production-wise, is really bad. the music is still to die for though.

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

re: Least favorite Broadway show?

I would have to say 42nd street...it was the only musical I've seen so far that just didn't do anything for me. The costumes and the dancing were great...but most of the songs are forgettable and the plot is paper thin.

re: Least favorite Broadway show?

I think RENT is awesome and will always be awesome. I haven't seen a show yet that I haven't liked, but I'm almost certain that GOOD VIBRATIONS would be one. And just out of curiosity, why don't you like THE PRODUCERS?

1776 and Hello Dolly. Carol Channing scares the hell out of me.

It was never on Broadway, but I hate Godspell. And Saturday Night Fever. Talk about vomit-inducing.

I wouldn't see Brooklyn again even if Matt Cavenaugh played all the characters....shirtless.

re: Least favorite Broadway show?

Thinking about his, I've suddenly come to the realization that that I really don't like many musicals. It comes as sort of a shock, having been in so many and having seen so many. I have seen almost every musical since the late 50's, and the ones I don't like would be too numerous to list. However, the one that I hated the most (I walked-out) was SUNSET BLVD. w/Glenn Close. Horrific!
