Posted: 10/3/13 at 11:35pmWho would want to stay? Everybodys bailing. Would you wanna stay listening to a bunch of whining kids shouting a song you cant understand, or maybe dancing on desks, swinging on swings is your thing. These seasoned actors don't want to be around kids all day, its work and depressing they want out. The show is falling apart faster than I have ever seen in my 34 years in the biz. Why? The show is confusing and obnoxious. Take that Yelpers

Posted: 10/3/13 at 11:42pmThe kids in Matilda are PROBABLY 100% more talented than you ever were in your "34 years in the biz." Those kids are absolutely phenomenal and it would be a privilege to work with them. You should be ashamed at what you wrote.

Yay, Stevie3 is back with another Matilda blast. They're entertaining as hell, but this one is a little short and not as impassioned as his others. What's up with that Steveroo? No Wheaties this morning? "maybe dancing on desks, swinging on swings is your thing." Man those could be lyrics to a great song. Have to work on that.
Stevie, what do you recommend instead. I heard you really liked Big Fish.

When I grow up
I will be small enough to free the hatred
that exists deep down inside the heart of me
on a message board.
And when I grow up,
I will be smart enough to insult kids
and blame them for what my mommy did
to make me a sad, lonely grownup
And when I grow up,
I will troll sites every day,
make them pay because they liked a show
that I felt wasn't right
And I will wake up
when the sun comes up and I
will spam reviews, until my eyes go square
and I won't care 'cause I'll be all grown up!

Stevie, I just returned home after a little broadway orgy, five shows in four days. Reading your post, I wonder if we saw the same "Matilda." From the first purposely odd and off-key notes until the three tissue finale, I was smitten and thoroughly enthralled. The set is magnificent, as is the choreography. The swings number, "Revolting Children" was anything but revolting! The score is brilliant, almost like a little opera instead of a musical. Oasis Jeff did everyone a favor by posting the lyrics of "When I Grow Up." I was constantly reminded of "Children Will Listen" from "Into the Woods." Like most musicals, the theme of good vs. evil prevailed, whether funny or serious. Not taking anything away from Tony-winner, "Kinky Boots," which also fleshes out a theme to lift anyone's heart, but I think the voters this year chose the wrong show for Best Musical and Best Score. There are so many ways of criticizing a show, but no reason to attack it with baseless prattle.

Posted: 10/4/13 at 11:41amWhile obviously a troll thread, it does illustrate what the house staff are seeing at the Shubert nightly: either people unabashedly adore the show or vehemently despise it. Those are the two main reactions, and a few people do leave every night (though I know the OP was talking about cast).
