Sheridan does not look like she is about 40 (what an awful thing to say). Remeber the woman is plasted in the make up from the show and that wig which you dont get major close ups of when you are in the theatre.
Sheridan was all about the nerves, she sounded very good during the launch but this was a 6 min bit thrown together whilst they are still in reheasals just to get exposure on Children In Need.
And remember this is not a woman who has not done theatre before, she blew the critics away with her performance in Little Shop and did many other shows before landing the TV shows '2 Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps' 'Grownups' and 'Benidorm'
Oh and PS anyone saying Duncn looks to old must have been blind to Richard H Blake who looks around 35

Posted: 11/21/09 at 9:51amSorry but last night Sheridan DID look much much older than she actually is. I thought she easily looked in her 30's. Duncan too looked too old, but I did also think the same thing about the Broadway cast

Posted: 11/21/09 at 9:55amI agree that Sheridan looked older last night (not 40 however)

Posted: 11/21/09 at 10:35amHot. Mess. Nerves is not an excuse for that. Margot's American accent attempt is horrible. Serena's was slightly better. Pilar just really scared me. Next, what's with Sheridan shaking her booty every time she walks? I'm not gonna comment on her singing because I think we've already summed that up. I don't recognise the part that Sheridan was singing in the finale. I feel sorry for the poor girl that fell on her ass at the end. Duncan and Sheridan look too old, I agree. Duncan's singing wasn't dreadful, but it all seemed like a glorified high school performance to me.

No one denied that.
I am sorry, but she does look too old. Yes, she looks younger in the head shot, but she doesn't come across that way onstage.

I think the make-up was really bad and aged her even worse. She looked like one of the OC Housewives. It was like Jane Krakowski in Legally Blonde Cougar.
I have to imagine it is very difficult and nerve racking to do those medley mash-ups on short notice. That has to jangle the nerves to remember the truncated songs and choreography.
Regardless, it was a hot mess.

Posted: 11/21/09 at 11:52amI saw her in Little Shop and while she acted the role well enough and was indeed quite affecting, she could NOT sing it. Her Somewhere That's Green was painful. I really think Elle will be a major challenge for her.

Posted: 11/21/09 at 12:17pmLondoners, do yourself a favor and don't bother seeing this mess of a show, and I'm talking about the show LEGALLY BLONDE, not this specific production. I'm still reeling from the mediocrity I saw at the Palace. What a waste of time.

Posted: 11/21/09 at 12:44pmI don't disagree with what is being said about that preformance, but I felt like that "mash-up" or medley did them no favors. It looked like it was thrown together in an hour! They should have just done one song- maybe Serious if they wanted to focus on the actor who play Elle and Warner.
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu#35re: Legally Blonde West End....uh oh.

RE the Set/Staircase!
Know one knows what the set will be like, as the first performance isnt until 5th December, but we are presuming we will not have a version of the FULL Broadway set, due to size limitations at The Savoy Theatre!
I am predicting a cross between Broadway and US tour set!

Posted: 11/21/09 at 1:03pmThe set is a cross between the Broadway and touring sets. They also haven't dropped Ireland they've just rewritten a few of the lyrics. Regarding the looking older thing, frankly from the distance most people will see it from I doubt you will be able to tell the age.

Posted: 11/21/09 at 1:15pmDantes, I saw her in the intimate setting of the Chocolate Factory - I was about ten feet from her. And she could not sing that song. Maybe she got better when it transferred to the West End, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. But she's a much better actress than singer.

Posted: 11/21/09 at 1:21pmSheridan Smith is very good at playing blonde, ladette, slightly chavvy type characters. Ive yet to see her do anything that stretches her outside of that remit

How is pointing out that she looks about 40 "an awful thing to say"? There's nothing wrong with it, she just looks around there.
But I know you have your pink glasses on and you'll defend this thing to death.

Posted: 11/21/09 at 3:14pmBlaxx give it a rest, ive already said they sounded horrid and it looked sloppy, im not defending it im saying that she does not look 40 and you have to take things in to consideration rather than condeming the girl based on a 6 mins thrown together Children In Need performance.

Posted: 11/21/09 at 3:24pmI hear Elaine Stritch is currently rehearsing the role, ready to take over, as she is a better singer and looks younger.

Posted: 11/21/09 at 3:26pmGosh...! I live in London and i was looking forward to seeing this. Not happy with the casting but i had hopes they would pull it out the bag...obviously not. I think i will wait a couple of weeks (or days) untill both their voices give out and will see the understudies! What a mess...and to be honest and insult to a paying audience!

Is Pilar supposed to be from the UK now, because Ibinabo didn’t even try to do an American accent.
Sheridan needs to work on her diction. It’s not “bwide”; it’s “bride”.
And a lower key for “Serious”? All right.
