Posted: 4/21/07 at 5:02pmwell I'm not sure if they'll perform, I'm just assuming. or maybe they'll do the thing they did with Mary Poppins, where an anchor like Meredith goes to the theatre and talks to the cast & stuff. who knows??

Posted: 4/21/07 at 5:03pmWell do you have a link/source? I don't feel like Googling.

Posted: 4/21/07 at 5:04pmThey could possibly just be talking to Laura Bell or something along the lines of that.

Aye, I'm 99% sure they're performing. There was talk recently about snipping songs to the right length just for the occasion.

Posted: 4/21/07 at 6:09pmIf they are performing, they'll probably perform Omigod You Guys, probably cutting the whole part with the salesperson trying to rip off Elle. The only other song I can see them doing is So Much Better.

They might perform "Omigod" but that would leave a lot of the main cast out of the loop.
I was trying to think about what song would be their main performance song...like "Supercali" was to Mary Poppins and "It's Your Wedding Day" was to TWS.
I would say perhaps LB remix.

Posted: 4/21/07 at 9:32pmthat would be good, or maybe Bend & Snap??
#13re: Legally Blonde on the Today Show
Posted: 4/21/07 at 9:43pmI would think they would need one that wasn't very reliant on the entire set being there.

My guesses are "So Much Better" or "Bend and Snap" -- since the former really showcases LBB and stands alone well out of the context of the show -- and the latter, although it doesn't showcase LBB, has the plus of being a recognizable bit from the movie.
The Remix would be awesome for showing off most of the main cast, but it doesn't make much sense if you haven't seen the rest of the show. It's too plotty.
We shall see on Friday!

Posted: 4/22/07 at 1:02amMusicalFan, I think I might have missed something. I went to the link you provided, and it lists upcoming performances on the Today Show, but the next performance listed is May 11th and it's Martina McBride and Josh Groban?

Posted: 4/22/07 at 2:25amBend and Snap would work extremely well on television and it's the most recognizable "title". It also features a large portion of the cast and is helmed by Orfeh. A no brainer all around.

Actually Al Dente, "Bend and Snap" is not exactly a no-brainer. First of all, they would have to rework the song so it has an end to it because right now, there is none and I don't think they would end the performance on a joke.
Second of all, if they want to promote Laura Bell, it is the worst song to pick because she does almost nothing in it.
Third of all, none of the other main cast members are in it. I think a medley would be the most appropriate way to go for this show. Pick some of the best parts from everything.

Posted: 4/22/07 at 12:06pmCarryme, what exactly makes you such an afficianado on all things relating to and pertaining to Legally Blonde? Not only is Bend & Snap perfect but it has one of the more popular cast members carrying it and has the most iconic (as Al pointed out) title from the movie and musical. I'm sure the Today show, as well as the LB producers know better than all of us what will best translate in to box office for them. It has nothing to do with anything but marketability, not your personal feelings about Orfeh. Much like your sentiments regarding Orfeh's 'undeserved' bow, I'm sure you'll be eating more crow come Friday morning.
#21re: Legally Blonde on the Today Show
Posted: 4/22/07 at 12:46pmI think they might do "Legally Blonde [Remix]" because that includes alot of the cast or they might do "So Much Better"/OmiGod You Guys medley to push Laura Bell and the ensemble.

While I think that showcasing Orfeh would be great, if I were a producer I would want to showcase not *A* star, but *THE* star. Orfeh's really well known and respected in theatre circles, and outside 'em too, but when most people think Legally Blonde, they think ELLE WOODS. If I were to choose one number, I'd go with one that showcases ELLE WOODS, well-known actress or not. Maybe if the reception of the performance is so good that they get asked to do a million more shows, they'll start changing it up a bit. But for their first few times on TV, I can't imagine they wouldn't want to burn the image of LBB as Elle into the minds of all the little girls who might want to see it.
Or hey, maybe they'll do a medley. That seems to be quite the popular thing to do.

Posted: 4/22/07 at 1:13pmThey are going to do something with LBB. I think So Much Better would be the easiest. LB Remix although very good....is to heavy on the plot and I am not sure the space is big enough.

Posted: 4/22/07 at 2:02pmMany times there's been more than one number performed on the Today Show. I don't know why no one has even considered that a possibility. I'm not going to guess what songs but when I go back, if it's before Friday I'll ask someone(s) in the cast.
