"Or hey, maybe they'll do a medley. That seems to be quite the popular thing to do. "
Because one musical company recently did a medley in their only TV appearance it's the popular thing to do? I envy the simplicity of your thought process.

FosterChild...I don't know where you got the assumption I don't like Orfeh. I didn't mention anything about not wanting to see her perform. I happen to adore the women. I think she has an amazing stage presence and her voice is incredible. And I never said I was an aficionado. I was merely expressing an opinion and I don't know if you forgot, but that's what these boards are for.
I never said her bow was undeserved. I just did not think they would give her her own bow solely because in the past, prestige has won over popularity and I used the example of Rita Gardner bowing after many who(in my opinion) deserved to bow after her in "Wedding Singer." I love watching Orfeh get her own bow. The audience eats it up.
I also love "Bend and Snap" and it would be nice to see it performed all the time because not only does Orfeh shine, but so do the fabulously talented Greek trio. I just think that (like others said) they would want to do a song that showcases LBB if they are pushing her for a Tony nom. And like I said, "Bend and Snap" has no ending and they would have to rework it to have it performed. Also if you are speaking of iconic things from the movie, one would think the first thing people would want to see when they hear "Legally Blonde" is the star of the movie, Elle Woods, singing her heart out.
I would love to see a medley. There are so many fun, catchy songs that would be enjoyable to see outside of the show. And there are so many people in this cast who deserve to shine, including Orfeh.

Really, is there a reason for the disparaging remark? Plenty of companies do medleys, a prime example being Jersey Boys, which happens to be one of the most popular shows in the States right now. If done right, medleys work, and they can go far in promoting many different aspects of a show all at once. People are catching on to that, and using it to their advantage. I'm just saying it's a possibility.
Just sharing my simplistic thought process,

Posted: 4/22/07 at 9:39pmYeah, that was a pretty stupid thing to pick on. Quite a few companies do medleys for various events. Seen the Tonys lately?

Posted: 4/23/07 at 12:29amReally early. Before 8AM, if I'm not mistaken. Luckily it's getting warmer. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I've never gone to the appearances...huge crowds in the wee hours of the morning aren't my thing, but I think it varies depending on the popularity of the performer. I doubt that there will be people clamoring to see the LB performance when its early on a day when school is still in session.
7:30/8 sounds about right, but perhaps someone with more experience can give you some advice. Good luck though!
Also, a fairly reliable source told me tonight that "Bend and Snap" and "Whipped into Shape" were the songs slated to perform on Friday.
While I love both those songs, it's interesting that they are doing two songs that showcase the other female leads. (Although both Orfeh and Nikki Snelson deserve to be showcased) Perhaps they think the well known "Bend and Snap" combined with hte impressive choreography of "Whipped into Shape" will be a good seller, which I completely understand.

Posted: 4/23/07 at 2:09pmIn general I can tell you that no matter who the performer is, people get to the Today show mad early. Sometimes there are more people if someone really famous is there, but in general it's tourists who are like OMG TODAY SHOW!!11! I used to work in Rockefeller Center there were ALWAYS huge crowds. If you really want a good spot, I'd say the earlier the better.

Posted: 4/23/07 at 2:58pmThought so. I got there really early for Footloose what seems like a hundred years ago. Oh and I defnitely remember they did two numbers from the show.

Good calls on those numbers; that way they get to show off two leading ladies, AND Jerry Mitchell's choreography. Excellent.
This may be a dumb question, but as I don't really ever watch TV in the morning... the Today Show is listed as being on from 7-10 in the morning. Around what time should I expect the Blonde performers to, well, perform?

Posted: 4/25/07 at 9:03pmI am recording the whole thing. I've found in the past that they announce the time and then they always seem to perform at a different time, so to be safe, I would tape it all.

Thank goodness. My TV went all wonky this morning, and there wasn't anything on the screen but snow. First time that's happened since I moved in... I REALLY didn't want to miss this!

Posted: 4/27/07 at 11:46amI'm sure they will. I can't imagine the producers or the Today show will just push them to the side becasue of rain. I'm actually suprised they didn't accomodate when they knew it was going to rain. Why not just move them inside? Or put up a tarp or something?

Posted: 4/27/07 at 12:17pmThe Today Show usually keeps performances, regardless of rain; in my more touristy days, I spent a few rainy mornings at Rockefeller Plaza under an umbrella trying to see a free concert through tent plastic. I wonder if those in charge at Legally Blonde actually pulled them; this weather is awful, and being outside for longer than necessary, especially in costume, can jeopardize the health of the performers. They've been working constantly for a few months now, and probably aren't the best rested of the bunch, so sticking them outside in the rain for a few hours (in numbers featuring the majority of the company, nontheless) without adequate dress could leave them exposed to colds and sickness, which is not the best idea for opening weekend. Just a thought.
