I have been wanting to fly out to New York to see LB again and have been checking the ticket site. The last date available is the 4th of January and has been that way for over two months now. I was wanting to take a 4 day weekend over the 16th-19th since I won't have students that Fri - Monday.
Do I need to make sure to get there before the 4th?
As anyone knows, tickets for Broadway shows are not sold far in advance... they are sold in blocks of months. LEGALLY BLONDE has only made tickets available until January 4, 2009. The next block of seats for a few months after this date could go on sale as late as November 2008, so this isn't rare. Their recent release of block of seats could have occurred in June or July 2008, which is why its been the same for some time.
When in doubt, simply call TeleCharge or TicketMaster as they may have the date for the release of the next block of tickets.
Example... a show that is a top seller like WICKED is only selling tickets thru Sunday July 5, 2009. This does not mean it'll be closing that weekend.
Cool! Thanks for the reply. I'll have to call ticketmaster so I can know when I can book my flights.
Brody, do you have to begin your very helpful response to toddlisatyriem with "As anyone knows..."? This person is asking for guidance, which you provide very nicely, but with a condescending opening remark. Nobody knows everything...not even you.
I know is a ticket block issue, but I could honestly see the show closing in early January
Isnt the first Sunday in January a typical closing date ?
Currently 5 of the big West End musicals have booking periods thru October/November 2009!
In London its mostly 3 or 4 months. I can imagine it being a little frustrating for people needing to plan trips a while in advance.
In the days before computerized box offices all shows took bookings no more than 6 to 8 weeks in advance! Oh! for the old days of paper seating plans!
I wouldnt be at all surprised if it closed on Jan 4th!
LB Blonde Haters...you may commence saying that it will be closed by then anytime. It's bound to happen.
I heard this nasty rumor that Legally Blonde will be closing this winter due to the revival of West Side Story. Supposedly, LB hasn't been filling house. The producers for WSS want a bigger house with a great location by February for previews. If this is true, I will be extremely upset.

Yes, those of us that live over 1,000 miles from New York wouldn't know these things. It is disheartening when people are rude on this board when there really is no reason to be.
myManCape, you're exactly right. The first Sunday in January is typically a day that has a few show closings. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a handful of closings on that day next year. White Christmas is already scheduled to close on that date. WSS is going into the Palace, that's pretty much a done deal from what I've seen and read.
Awww. At least there's still videos of the entire show floating around Google video.
Yes, my entire family are closet watchers of Legally Blonde. We'd never admit it, but we basically know all the songs. And I've never even seen the film it's based on. Sad.
It could totally happen, but you know it's not a definite as-yet-unannounced news story, because this thread is still here. XD
My guess has always been January 4th.
And I LOVE the show and think it's great fun.
You know, Robert Taylor, just because people predict LEGALLY BLONDE's closing doesn't mean they "hate" the show.
I have seen the show seven times, and really enjoy it.
However, I recognize and predict that the show will probably close within the next few months, with WEST SIDE STORY taking its place at the Palace.
