Legally Blonde: hmmm...

I've just been emailed an updated contact list from AKA, which they have accidentally (or seemingly accidentally, perhaps) left the amends on. The last amends were apparently the complete removal of No Man's Land, Piaf and Legally Blonde. Is this telling us AKA are no longer dealing with it, or that they want us to think they're not dealing with it just so everyone will shut up about it? Has it been abandoned altogether? Hmmmmmmmm...

re: Legally Blonde: hmmm...

I honestly have no idea, all i do know its going ahead, the auditions have been happening this week and next week, we have been told the contract starts in July for rehearsals and opens in August for previews with an official opening at the end of Aug or beginning of sept.

re: Legally Blonde: hmmm...

A friend of mind has been contacted, creativly wise, but no contract yet given. Also given what he does a venue is still yet to be officially confirmed so if anything happens this year it going to have to be fast!

Not to put a downer on it or anything but Hairspray in 2003 and 2005 had auditions/casted and worked on marketing/advertising and never actually opened.

re: Legally Blonde: hmmm...

I think the venue is the biggest obstacle for this show because the originally wanted to bring the Broadway set over, however that's not happening now (we are only getting some parts of it).

Its the Piccadilly.
Talking to 3 of the stage management on the theatres current 'hit', 'Grease', last night, the show opens there before Christmas and ATG have now, supposedly, moved in as major producers.

Possibly... I defintiely remember some mockery about my taste for the Osmonds though. My favourite thing at the moment is my BCR lampshade. Pourquoi?

re: Legally Blonde: hmmm...

The Piccadilly thing has been going for almost a year now! Tough theatre to open in... They are going to some serious good marketing/advertising stunts especially as this year is shaping up to house some big new musicals.

I'm not suprised ATG are moving in as producers, the show probably needs more money now. They were trying to get a bigger house for the Broadway sets but to be honest although that would have saved money, I think they would have struggled to fill a large house for any good amount of time.

re: Legally Blonde: hmmm...

The Piccadilly has been on and off again so many time, it was off again only a couple of months ago because Grease was going to make way for Flashdance, though that's going elsewhere now apparently

re: Legally Blonde: hmmm...

Everyone thinks the Piccadilly is small when its one of the biggest and best equipped theatres in town.
You just have to look at the huge (OK most were huge flops) productions taht have played there in the past 20 years
Metropolis
King
Whitch Witch
etc etc, all had huge sets.

re: Legally Blonde: hmmm...

Is the Piccadilly stage actually that big, i saw a few things there and it looked pretty small, maybe thats just because im used to looking at the Manchester Palace stage everyday lol

re: Legally Blonde: hmmm...

grease is updating its cast contracting them officially until january 2010, i know because i have an audition, so it would make sense that lb will take the picadilly... as i can't see grease lasting until then, but they must be willing to keep grease there until as close as possible or i doubt they'd bring in a new cast...

but i do fear i spy ANOTHER Grease tour coming up in 2010!!!
