Damn I wish this would be released on DVD. One of the most astonishing performances I have ever witnessed on a Broadway stage.

I think that's from a performance she gave at the Supper Club about 10 years after The Lady and her music.
This is the Tony-acceptance speech and performance of "If You Believe" from the same year as The Lady and Her Music:

Wasn't this show issued on VHS as part of those RKO series of musical shows that included SWEENEY TODD and I DO! I DO! ? HAs it never come out on DVD?
What else was there in that series? PURLIE?
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Yes - I have Lena Horne and I DO! I DO! on VHS, and am waiting patiently for all of them to appear on DVD, along with PURLIE and TREEMONISHA.

I know that I saw her, don't know the year and where and got mugged, not seriously, just a knife poked at my ribs and a demand for money. It was pissing rain so got to the theater, straight into the mens room and tried to dry off under the hand blower. I really was saturated. I was a sight drying off.
Lena was magnificent but somehow I remember having seen a recording of same concert and this is the reason I wanted to go and was watching something I had already seen. Didn't matter of course.
Afterwards I was desperate for an autograph but announcement said that would not be happening. Well I thought I've been mugged, I'm in NY, still wet, so I'll wait. So there I was outside a darkened theater with one other person who was standing well away from me--waiting for who knew what. More lights went out so surely I couldn't get mugged twice !
Then a black limo pulled up and after waiting at least 2 hours, out she came from the darkened theater with 2 bodyguards. She had obviously heard about my mugging, and quickly headed for her car !!!!
The lone girl then ran up to Ms Horne as a guard helped her into the car, pushed me out of the way and thrust her arm into the car which moved as the door tried to close.....she got her autograph and I got fXall---except I saw a legend.
I remember all the above but--it could have been late 70s early 80s. I know I took a photo[lost now] mid show with Ms Horne in a blue dress........Thanks for a long lost part memory and I really was there, whenever.

I saw The Lady and Her Music twice when she toured it. Nashville and Memphis.
It was magnificent!
When I saw it in Memphis, she had added "Honeysuckle Rose", which just thrilled me.
I was on the front row and during the curtain call I blew kisses to her. She looked at me a blew one back.
I also waited at the stage door, but someone came out and said that she would not be signing autographs. I left, but since the performance had been so wonderful, I really wasn't disappointed.
As SweetLips said, thanks for reminding me of those two magical nights, especially the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis.

Her version of "Yesterday When I Was Young" was an unexpected tour de force. The whole night was wonderful.
I later thought that Streisand was influenced by the Hollywood segment of Lena's show when she recorded "Putting It Together."
