The show has done dreadful business the last week in Plymouth with most performances being barely 50% of capacity. Lots of walkouts reported and a very down hearted cast and crew. I don't think this will make it to the West End, it will barely last a month if it took the risk.
You really ought to get your facts right !! your comment about walkouts is untrue and misleading, This show is doing great business. with many people booking to see the show again. the Cast and Crew are wonderful.and enjoying working with the award winning international creative team. This original and very funny musical is amazing. Many West End and Broadway Theatre Owners have seen the show and are now in discussion with the Producers. You clearly have not seen this show or talked to any of the West End Stars heading the talented and very happy cast. I have So Shut UP !! And its Called Lend Me A Tenor The Musical.
I also know someone in it and unfortunately Mama is right about the level of business not being good. Though my contact wasn't aware of walkouts and said a lot of people seem to be enjoying it. That does not mean it won't transfer though makes it a more difficult decision.
I've got a few people connected to the show and I haven't heard anything hugely alarming about the show. Sales haven't been overwhelming but I don't think it was expected for an out of town try out. Reviews have been favourable which is positive.
I haven't heard of anything being confirmed for the West End, expcept for 3 houses they are looking at for a Feb 2011 opening.
I wouldnt write it off yet, but nothing has been confirmed.
mama, my comment to you got wiped. Who would have done that?? sometimes i just dont understand this board and it's mysterious ways? did i use an inappropriate word perhaps?? im at sixes and sevens....LOL
Well what I've heard about sales hasn't been positive either.
Having said that, The Sound of Music was dying on its arse the week (s) before, so LMATTM (mustn't forget 'The Musical')is not unique in its poor sales!
