I looked to see if something was already posted about this, and since there seems to be nothing... Here goes.
The cast of the very funny and criminally-underwatched CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" was on Megan Mullaly the other day. Not sure what led up to it, but Neil Patrick Harris (Barney) and Jason Segal (Marshall) began performing -- and really rocking -- a surprisingly accurate and well-performed version of "The Confrontation" from Les Miserables.
You CAN find it on a certain video hosting site (search for Confrontation - How I Met Your Mother) and also supposedly on the Megan show's site.
VEEEERY amusing-- and they totally had the host just dying with laughter, though they somehow kept straight faces... NP Harris said it was his fave musical, and they've obviously listed to the cast recording a TON. enjoy.

That was great.
I also like how they fully intended to keep going with the song, had Megan not cut them off.

This "The Confronation" was posted in a "male love duets" post? Too funny...
Anyway, USAToday's Pop Candy section is linking to the clip too, so I think the YT clip is actually a "legal" clip okay'd either by Megan's show or HIMYM. (Not all YT clips are "illegal." Now that it's owned by Google, lots of shows are posting clips as a means of free promotion. BW's boards should probably rethink their blanket ban on all things YT...)

I saw the cast on the Megan Mullaly show - I love my "Mother"!
Anyway - their duet was hilarious. I can see how Josh would laugh every time they sing the Confrontation.

Okay, that's awesome. I must see it.
By the way, I could be wrong, but I think I recognized Megan Mullaly's voice as Barney's mother in those flashbacks from last episode.

She definitely was - Futon Critic listed her as a guest star.

Yes. That was Megan's little voice 'cameo'.
Also, their bit with "The Confrontation" number on her show actually went longer than they intended. They were only going to sing a couple of lines but the moment was too magical that they just kept going.

Posted: 12/1/06 at 2:27pmWow...the dork that I am I had to play the Confrontation on my itunes overlapping with that, and Neil Patrick Harris is in exactly the right key. Impressive.

First Robin Sparkles and now this? I love this show! Why did I resist it for a whole season?
I wonder if Les Mis ever extends or needs a new Valjean and Javert, if these two will step in?

Posted: 12/1/06 at 9:53pmIt was so funny. But her show is so dull. She doesn't have much "life" in her voice.

Posted: 12/1/06 at 10:59pmAccording to sources, Neil Patrick Harris has been watching Les Miz almost on a daily basis and the rumor was, the actor maybe studying a lead part on the play for a possible replacement. I personally saw him at the bar area on the evening performance before Thanksgiving and after the stint in Megan's show, it may be a possibility he is vying for Javert's part.
