Les Mis Cast Recording

Posted: 1/26/14 at 4:05pmThe Les Mis twitter account posted a little while ago that there were 47 recordings of Les Mis, and Andy Mientus tweeted back,"Can we make that 48?" I really hope it gets recorded as well because once I hear Andy sing "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables", I will definitely need to hear it again.

Posted: 1/26/14 at 4:21pmThere are already too many (47? Wow!) so I doubt that will happen.

Good point, Ross, because a musical large enough to sustain 47 cast albums (many in different languages) with albums so polarizing that no one can definitively say which is better/stronger/truer... I mean, who needs another?

Posted: 1/26/14 at 5:13pmI will never scoff at a new cast recording. Didn't care for this production at all, but Caissie Levy singing I Dreamed A Dream is enough for me to take a listen.

Posted: 1/26/14 at 6:10pmTrue, but making a recording of this is a guaranteed money maker. It seems pretty stupid to me, but I'm sure there is an audience for it.

Posted: 1/27/14 at 12:39amI still haven't listened to the UK tour recording, and I've owned it for three years. I feel like someone should revoke my Mizzie fancard. :-p

Posted: 1/27/14 at 1:03amI actually really like the new orchestrations on the 25th anniversary UK tour cast recording so I wouldn't mind if we get a new Broadway revival recording with the same orchestrations, but since that tour is the production that this revival is based on they'll probably just be selling that CD in the lobby and not a new one. Also, I bet Cameron Mackintosh will be producing a live West End revival cast recording of Miss Saigon and because of that, Les Miz will be overlooked.

"too many cd of that show we need shows that have not be make into cast cd's made into cd's"
Hmm, I think the way it works is that the Les Miz team will decide whether to record a cast CD no matter whether After Midnight records one or not. They are unrelated.
