Les Mis to take the Imperial? High Fidelity to the Broadhurst?

Posted: 8/23/06 at 8:46pmok i'm not really against them moving to the imperial or staying at the broadhurst. either way i have my tickets already (front row mez) so either theatre, my seats will be pretty good. better than when i saw it before (third to last row in the orchestra). but it would be nice to see it done in a slightly smaller theatre than the imperial... and either way DREW SARICH is in it and will make my day.

Posted: 8/23/06 at 9:46pmI had tickets to the first preview which was cancelled. Neither the box office nor Telecharge was helpful in getting like seats for a different performance. My fifth row center seats were gone for the entire run, unless I wanted to spend the extra $ for premium seating. I do not know how helpful the box office will be if this move does happen as my experience was more than painful. This is not good news.

Posted: 8/23/06 at 9:51pmWell, wouldn't that just be... weird. IF it happens, does any theater-trivia person here more savvy than I know if there's a precendent for it? Because if it's a first, they'll probably go for it just to be able to say, "Look how special WE are! We're back in our old theater! Now come buy tickets because we're cool."

if it moves will refunds be available?
they will have to weigh the cost of all the problems it will cause/ refunds/ crazy people/ people going to the wrong theatre and getting very upset etc against making some extra money..
will it be worth it?

The original and revival versions of How to Suceed in Business Without Really Trying both played the 46th Street/Richard Rodgers Theatre. Same is true with the the original and revival versions of Chicago (also the 46th Street/Richard Rodgers), although the revival moved after about six months to the Shubert.
The original and most recent revival of Man of La Mancha both played the Martin Beck Theatre (now the Al Hirschfeld).

Posted: 8/24/06 at 7:54amWhen the original production of 42nd Street first opened, it played the Winter Garden and we saw it there. Several months later, it moved to the Majestic. In the meantime I had purchased about 20 tickets at the Winter Garden for a group. The date of the group's tickets was after the move.We were told to retain our Winter Garden tickets and use them. When we arrived at the theatre, people who had purchased tickets for the Winter Garden were asked to verify at a table in the lobby of the Majestic that the seat numbers on the Winter Garden tickets existed at the Imperial. In every case they did and we were seated using the Winter Garden tickets. I'm sure that in those cases where the exact seat number did not exist, patrons were offered comparable seats.

I actually read in the Variety article when it said that DRS was closing that High Fidelity is going to the Imperial.
I would Les Mis to be there (although, I'll love it more if DRS stays), but just telling what I read.

Posted: 8/24/06 at 8:20amIt makes sense for LES MIS to play the IMPERIAL again. I believe the backstage logistics for that production need the space that the Imperial can provide.

Posted: 8/24/06 at 9:23amSemi off topic but I noticed someone said that Les Mis couldn't play the Palace due to wanting to extend. I must have missed it, but what is rumored to play the Palace next?

I don't think they'd do it. It seems to be so much of a hastle to change tickets and sets and such.
On a personal level, I wanted Les Mis at the Broadhurst to see something different, see it play a smaller theatre. Now it's going to be right back where it was less than 4 years ago.
