So says a poster on ATC (and the rumor has been around for a while):

No official announcement yet, though.

I would assume they care more about the money.
Thus, moving Les Mis to a larger theatre makes sense.

Posted: 8/23/06 at 6:35pmWhat would be behind the reason for the switch? I'm not from NY, is one theater bigger than the other? I've been inside the Broadhurst but never the Imperial.
#7re: Les Mis to take the Imperial? High Fidelity to the Broadhurst?
Posted: 8/23/06 at 6:35pmI hope Les Mis stays in the Broadhurst Theatre. The Imperial has the most uncomfortable seats.

Posted: 8/23/06 at 6:42pmUm. But I already have my tickets. What would happen?
#9re: Les Mis to take the Imperial? High Fidelity to the Broadhurst?
Posted: 8/23/06 at 6:44pmI REALLY hope LES MIS just stays at the Broadhurst. I already spent quite a bit of money buying a ticket to see it at the Broadhurst, and I don't feel like spending more money to see it at the Imperial if it switches theatres.

The Imperial has about 300 more seats than the Broadhurst.

The Imperial has about 250 more seats (Imperial -- 1417; Broadhurst -- 1150) which obviously means Les Mis would have a much higher potential gross there than at the Broadhurst. High Fidelity with no stars and little built-in audience (especially compared to Les Mis) would make more sense at the Broadhurst.
As far as tickets already sold, they would simply make exchanges for comparable seats at the other theatre. It's been done before when shows have moved and given the huge amount of additional box office Les Mis could take in, I'm sure the producers will be happy to do it.

Posted: 8/23/06 at 6:47pmI hope it stays at the Broadhurst so it will have Standing Room avaliable. If it switches to the Imperial it better have some sort of rush. Did it have rush in it's original run?

I think someone on ATC posted that they'll switch tickets over to comperable seats at The Imperial. Don't know if that's true or not though. Has anything like this ever happened before? What's the general protocal. I'd tend to think it would be easier to try to shift tix to comperable seats rather than refund and have people rebuy, right?
ETA: Margo beat me to the ticket switching situation, so this is kind of moot!

Heh, I love how one of the reasons they'd be likely to switch is for the larger house and the additional $$, and yet Mackintosh sounded so thrilled a few months ago to have a "more intimate" theatre like the Broadhurst.
This rumor seems like it could be true--it makes sense, it's not unheard of--and yet I wonder...if Les Mis was looking to switch to a bigger house purely for sales purposes, why wouldn't they just have decided earlier to pick any one of the bigger houses that are currently dark? Methinks people are just seeing that the Imperial is now open and they're deciding to dredge up old rumors. My point is just that if Les Mis were looking to switch puprely for monetary gain, they would have done so earlier and would have picked a place like the Palace rather than wait for the possibility of DRS closing to snatch up the Imperial.
Anyway, still could be true, just sayin'.

as far as comparable seats go, if you have aisle seats will that remain, left/right, etc. or is it that orchestra tix are just guarenteeed orchestra etc?
Thanks

I hope this is true, because when they announced the Les Miz Revival I told all my friends that they would find a way to get into the Imperial. I mean who wouldn't want to play in the theatre that bears the seal to the show in pavement? No one believed me. Then when the theatre was announced as the Broadhurst, everyone laughed at me, but I told them JUST WAIT! Now it looks like I may have the last laugh after all.

Les Miz didn't switch earlier because none of the large musical houses have been available, and the Les Miz revival is planning to extend past a six month limited engagement, so the Palace was not an option. And although Mackintosh has had shows in Jujamcyn (Five Guys Named Moe) and Nederlander (Oklahoma!, Oliver!, Swan Lake) owned houses, his big four shows - Phantom, Les Miz, Cats and Miss Saigon - all played in Shubert owned theatres, so that may be a factor as well in why he would opt to move from one Shubert-owned theatre (the Broadhurst) to another (the Imperial).

Posted: 8/23/06 at 7:55pmok i made a point of seeing it during the week SPECIFICALLY so i can get in the first 5 rows. this is gonna make me mad if they don't COMPARABLY comply with a seat.

Folkyboy I feel the same way. I had my heart set on getting 6th row center, (and I did). If they don't do comparable seating I will be really upset.

If that happened I'd be upset. I really hope it's as close to the seat purchased as possible.

I am not sure if it is that easy to change to comparable seats. After tickets have been sold, they decided to eliminate the front row at the Imperial for THE BOY FROM OZ, supposedly for lighting problems reasons. Those seated in the original front row were given the seats for the new front row ( second row before) and those in the original second row were told to choose other dates or were assigned other seats in the theatre ( not 3rd row, which became the new second row). And the excahnges were only for the same theatre.

Ahh--true, true. Again, this could very well happen, I was just wondering whether it might just be wishful thinking on the part of fans who are excited that the Imperial is available again.

maybe they should give us the same seats and then sell, what's left
ie row length are somewhat different, Broadhurst row A has fivem Imperial has 6, if i'm reading the charts correctly, so they should see the remaining 1
i just dont want to moved up a row but over 5, you know what i mean?
