Allison has a great voice and I did enjoy her in Lestat, but she still looks about 14 on stage. Or at least she did a year ago.
Wouldn't Allison's age (or her look) be a plus?
Wasn't (Isn't) Eponine about 16 when she died (dies)?
I love Celia's Eponine. She seems to me to be portraying Eponine as two steps up from Anybodys, Tomboy of West Side Story, rather than a half-step down from Cosette. ( I think Eponine is slightly younger than Cosette -- and remember, she (at least when wrapped in her overcoat) does get mistaken for a boy).
p.s. Last night Marissa McGowan played Eponine. She looked and sang great. [Marissa looks younger than Celia, yet her Eponine seemed a bit more grown up than Celia's.]
pps: It was wonderful seeing/hearing Nikki Renee Daniels as Fantine. [She played Fantine at times sick and coughing like a junkie -- where'd she pick that up?]
ppps: The present cast is wonderful. The staging is improved and the production is better than ever. I've seen this revival many times, yet I look forward to Lea and other cast changes.

Posted: 3/1/07 at 9:23amYes,P.S. Eponine is sixteen when she meets Marius, I remember that from the book, and I think she still is when she dies. Glad you got to see Marissa as Eponine, I wish I could have seen her on tour.

Posted: 3/1/07 at 10:22amI hate to be one of those, but why in the world would Gemignani leave doing Valjean on Broadway to be the Beadle on the national tour???

I think I would cry if Alison Fischer was Eponine. Cry...in pain. IMHO her acting blows, her belt is nasally, and she looks like a 12-year-old.
I'm seeing the show tonight--it'd be awesome if Marissa was on again. I adore her.

"She played Fantine at times sick and coughing like a junkie -- where'd she pick that up?"
Didn't Fantine have TB or something similar to that?

I guess I was getting her mixed up with some other Fantine.
Or Mimi.
Mimi in La boheme had TB. Mimi in Rent was a heroin junkie.
This is all so confusing.
p.s. Back on topic -- Alex is better than ever. I want him in the part every time I see Les Miz.
Adam and Ali were both terrific last night.
I can't now imagine anyone else playing Marius.

Fischer wasn't able to get seen for the initial auditions for the revival but did indeed audition for Eponine after Lea Michelle dropped out. I'd be curious if she gives it another shot.
I would think not, considering she is doing Grease.

SOMEBODY please post after Haviland Stillwell plays Fantine. I'd love love love to hear how she does.
After all, I love her performance as The Factory Biznitch.

Maybe Gemignani would be more inclined to leave Les Miz if he was offered Sweeney in the Sweeney Todd tour.
That would be loverly.

Haviland was scheduled for Saturday night 2/24,
and may have been on for yesterday's matinee.
There were program inserts all over the sidewalk last night.
p.s. I'm curious as well. Anybody see her?

I saw Haviland as Fantine - she was wonderful! First of all, she was in a blonde wig (very Randy Graff!), which is the first time I've ever seen her like that! She looked great as a blonde and played the part really well. They were all throwing her around like a rag doll! She's so little!
Hopefully she'll get to go on again soon.

Fontybell,
Thanks! I'm so glad she did well. Of all the cast members of the Les Miz revival (Excluding Norm, obviously, and Daphne cuz we sang to her...), Haviland was definitely one of the nicest that I talked to.
She made fun of Daphne's "boy" in the second act.

Again, yes P.S. Fantine does have(had) TB.

Thank you Colle. I was playing with the fact that before the cast change Daphne Rubin Vega played Fantine. She previously played Mimi (a junkie) in Rent. The Rent Mimi is "modelled" after the Mimi of La boheme, who had TB.
Daphne's Fantine was acted (and sounded) very junkie-like [no pun intended].
Nikki's portrayal is more TB-like but, evenso, with some junkie-like movement. Her singing voice, however, does not add to the image.
p.s. Can't wait for Lea -- next week.
pps: TB or not TB

Posted: 3/1/07 at 11:06pmRegarding the Tony nom- there are only 4 other revivals this season (ACL, 110, Apple Tree, Company). Why wouldn't it get the 5th spot?

When previous years have only had three or so nominations in the Revival category, is that because only three shows were eligible? I'm just trying to work out if they only nominate as many shows as they feel are worthy, or if they like to fill up the categories as much as possible.

Posted: 3/4/07 at 10:51amAccording to the Corine's Corner blog, rumors are swirling that Ann Harada will be going into the show, I assume as Madame Thernardier? If this is true, wonderful casting.
