The public was told by the critics to stay away & unfortunately many still listen to them instead of making up their own mind
I have never seen such glee over a show closing. The actors, who put their heart & soul into it, are now out of a job. This show did not have a chance . Even before the first preview, it was DOA as it is a hated vampire musical. I guess if Sondheim would have done it they might have been more lenient but it had the added curse of Elton John , a writer of the dreaded "pop music" as its composer.
My wife & I throughly enjoyed it but since some on this board did not it therefore it should close. I can guarantee you it will be a long time before Warner Brothers ever comes near Broadway again. They would have to be out of their mind as would any other movie company( other than Disney) who had ideas of doing so
I am glad I saw it & to those other than the show haters who will not get to see it that is their loss. Many shows our esteemed critics raved about we could not stand. having seen almost 400 shows in my life I think I have some idea of theater.
Every show should live or die by an audience deciding & not by a group of people who have no experience in either writing a score or book . Somehow they can sit in judgement. Imagine a bricklayer telling a doctor how to do an operation
All i can say is what a shame. Now commence throwing the brickbats
