it'll probably be eleven by the time the show is over, and i have to get up early and go sailing/work out tomorrow morning.

and Yankee, i admire you skipping the Tonys to watch the Sopranos. if i actually followed that show, i probably would be skipping too :)

Trust me, it'll take an enormous amount of restraint (not to watch the Tonys)...but I'll only be missing the middle hour.

I remember drama last yar about people postig during the show. I agree about the one thread idea. If you dont want to know stay off-line.

Agreed. If you don't want to know, stay offline. Personally, I don't see how any die-hard theatre fan could NOT watch the Tonys, but that's just me.

If you've all ready decided that this year's Tony Awards are going to be the dullest ever, then don't watch it.... Makes sense to me.

No matter how boring/dull/whatever you think the Tonys are going to be, this is a theater board and people are going to be discussing it. If you're so worried about having them spoiled (even though it'll be on the news, in newspapers, etc), then just don't come on the board. Is it really that difficult to stay off the board for a couple extra hours?

Here's an idea!

Let's refrain from going to a THEATRE DISCUSSION WEBSITE before watching the Tony awards if you don't want to know the results before you watch 'em! How's THAT for a plan? I'd say pretty flawless! ^_^

Alright in fairness to Yankeefan.

The Sopranos is a genius piece of art. It's an epic that's been eight or so years in the making (when you figure in the long breaks that David Chase loves). If you are at all a fan of the show, there is no way it will not take precedent over the middle hour of the Tony Awards, regardless of how much you love theatre. Luckily for me I don't have HBO so that shouldn't be a problem. Just finishing this writing in time will be.

Also I think that out of respect to people on the west coast we should avoid spoilers IN SUBJECT LINES. I don't think that's asking too much since they don't have the option of watching in EST. (I'm in NYC so this doesn't apply for me, but I'm sure there are people who will appreciate it).

edit for typo

I live on the West coast and you can type whatever you want.

See, if I don't want the surprise spoiled for me, I would STAY AWAY from a Broadway message board.

That simple.

Just a suggestion.........

Maybe have two seperate threads? One for discussing the winners & losers and one for discussing the show itself?

I know that I like to come here while the award shows are on because I enjoy the snarky commentary. I'm sure I'm not the only person who likes to see what other people are thinking about certain performances, attire, dialogue, etc. So...maybe two seperate threads?

I am attending The Police concert here in Denver this evening and taping the Tony's so I will come home and just watch the tape. Won't turn the computer on. And The Police better kick a** in concert because I am missing a good Tony party to see them!

I don't know why everyone is taking what I said so personally. The responses are so harsh and malicious that it was like I was slinging insults at you or something.

All I asked was that you try and not post dozens of threads with subject headers reading "so-and-so wins/so-and-so loses." I never said you can't/shouldn't discuss the show.

One thread would be nice. Hell, five threads would be fine. This thread, initially, was directed to the people who post "OMG he loST and Im SoOoOoO upSEt!" I can't think of how many threads on the OT board that ruined the American Idol finale and various other shows for people who were either out West or just Tivo-ing it.

Eh, who am I kidding? I've been on this board long enough to know that everything I say can and will be held against me.

I'm sorry but spoilers in subject lines is such a moot point.

BWW almost always will post pictures AND headlines right on the front page of winners.

You'll know before you even get to the boards.

If you don't want it spoiled, don't come to the boards until you watch the show. It's really a very simple solution and if someone doesn't have the self-control to keep themselves away, that is their problem.

I suggest we refrain from mass meltdown this year.

If, say, The Apple Tree wins best revival there doesn't need to be any suicide pacts or death threats being made. Try and maintain some ****ing perspective, people.

Frankly, Coleen,

If a few of the posters want to off themselves because their favorite show didn't win (or if there favorite perfomer is not spoken about in loving terms) then I say,

"MORE POWER TO THEM"
