They are mentioning the source is the daily news, too.
I wouldn't get too excited til we have an official press release.

Wow! I really hope this is accurate. I am now much more eager to see this movie! Since her American Idol days I have been a fan and told everyone what a great Effie she would be. I'm sure under the hands of Mr. Condon she will not dissapoint. I have been hoping she would be cast all along. I had no idea she was even still in the running! Without a doubt, she is the best choice.
SCORE!

Still trying to trust Condon and Geffen, but I am having a hard time seeing her act the role. She has a good voice, but on AI, she seemed unable to connect to the songs or the audience, which is why she was voted off, IMO.
I am hoping this is a hoax, but w/ Playbill repeating it...
Worried about Anika! She was the only casting I was really happy about.

Now she IS an Effie!
She is perfect. I am not so worried about her acting, I'm sure if anything she is working with an acting coach.
HOPEFULLY this means the Fantasia groupies will go away now.

Jen Hudson didn't connect to her songs on AI??? Were we watching the same show?
She was THE ONLY one who connected (until Fantasia did "Summertime").

I agree. Hudson certainly did NOT connect to her songs or the audience for that matter.. AT ALL. while she is a good singer, she is one of those performer that reeks of listen to my big voice and far less concerned with interpreting lyrics! thats it. no connection at all.

With the right coaching, whateverman, Hudson can get there.
I don't believe anyone can change Fantasia's screeching - that's just her voice. I am glad for this.

i dont think hudson is a bad choice for effie.. she just needs ALOT of work. she has the voice but the voice alone simply will not make the grade. she better get in there and learn how to connect and interpret.
As far as "Fantasias Screeching" its called a gospel growl.
familiarize urself with the genre.

I never felt connected to her performances at all on AI, and she was voted off event tho she had the best voice.
...and I think I said IMO.

nope u are talking about her growl. her style is that of MANY great gospel singers. u will know this if u listen to gospel music, and i'm talking about black gospel music. its been handed down by the greats. again familiarize urslef with the genre. its typical and common of u to call it screeching.

I am a professional singer and I sing backup for a gospel singer as one of my jobs. I am quite familiar with the greats as well as with the style. And I know the difference.

u sing back up for A gospel singer.. whoopdy doo..thats questionable being that u dont know growling when u hear it. is this "up with people" that ur doing or something? if not then u should CERTAINLY know better.
listen to the greats.. get a catalogue and understand great gospel because clearly u dont. ur oohs and ahhs obviously havent done the trick for u .

SWEET!!!! God, I am so happy you just don't know. And I whole heartedly agree with Rath . . . that is STRAIGHT UP SCREAMING. The way Jennifer Hudson sometimes sings on "Easy to be Hard" on the HAIR: Benefit Concert cd is "Gospel Growling."
THANK YOU BILL CONDON!!!!

What does that have to do with anything. And yes, I am white but my MANY black friends don't agree with me.
And I seriously hope you don't think that we cannot hear the difference between a screetch and a gospel growl just because we are white. Etta James (The queen of the growl) is my favorite singer of all time and I think YOU need to associate yourself on what real "growling" is.
