It's been confirmed pop star, Lily Alan will compose the score for the new musical adaption of 'Bridget Jones' diary'. The show is set to begin in London in 2010. Thoughts?

First thought: I detested the movie (boring to excess) so can't say this particularly excites me.
Second thought: who the hell is Lily Alan? LOL

Hmm, I loathe the film, but thats due to my HUGE dis-like of Renee Zelweger!

I think this has GREAT potential, and the fact Lily ALLEN is writing the songs excites me even more as I love quircky song writing style!

bob8rich, if you were being serious with that comment (I can not tell!) She is Keith Allen's daughter, big british alternative pop singer, you MUST have heard her songs "Smile" "LDN" and "Alfie"

Thanks CONAries for the Lily Allen info. I have to confess I've never heard any of the songs you mention, nor have I ever heard of Keith Allen. LOL But she looks good!

*barf* is my gut reaction. I am so bored of the whole "which movie can we turn into a show next?" thing. Stop it, it's boring and makes me cringe.

I really enjoyed the film, but don't know if Lily Allen's the right choice to compose the Musical. There's no denying she's talented, I just don't like any of her talent. I will probably go and see this, unless Lily's going to play Bridget as well.
Once you start to spread it, Baby, if you let it, Love comes right on back to you . . .

The thing that will sell it to me or not, is if it's a complete stage adaptation of the film, or if they include more of the TIMELESS anecdotes from the newspaper columns and novel!

I just googled Ms Allen and listened to some of her stuff on myspace. Sounded like someone from the cast of East Enders, drunk and having a sing-song down the pub. The prospect of sitting through an entire musical theatre score like that is enough to make me want to throw myself under a speeding train.

Perhaps they should do like the old days an adapt a novel. Like Bridget Jones' Diary!

I think this an interesting venture to say the least. I've always thought this would make a great musical, hoping it sticks closer to the novel. Lily Allen's quirky sort of style would make an interesting musical I'm sure, which could be the right thing for this adaptation.

I think it'll go two ways, horrendous, or just right. I hope it's the latter, always wanted to see a musical of this :)

HATE HATE HATE Lilly Allan, shes a stuck up, nasty vile piece of work who has spent more time in media for slagging off other artists than she is for her music

I like Miss Allen... she's quirky. I'm glad she's just writing the music though as all her songs require a 'mockney' accent in order to work and that just wouldn't suit Mark Darcy!
