Linda Eder ?

Whatever happened to Linda Eder? She was the Broadway sensation in the mid-90s, then released some solo CDs and was doing concerts....and then I've ehard nothing over the past decade or so. Is she still performing on B'way? Why isn't her name ever brought up for replacements on B'way (maybe she would make a good "DOLLY"?) Maybe I'm just missing any news on her?

Linda Eder ?

I'm seeing her in concert again in October! Can't wait.

In the past decade, she has released 7 albums and toured fairly consistently. If you haven't seen her live, I highly recommend it.

I did see her live back in 2000-01.Very good concert - then I was buying her solo CDs. Any reason why she hasn't been back in a musical on B'way?

From what I understand, Eder was never particularly interested in a long-term Broadway career. She's a very successful recording artist and concert performer, which was always her primary goal.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

She is incredible in concert. Saw her twice. Once with Burt Bacharach.

Saw her show at 54 Below in June. (And she recently performed in Provincetown, as well.) She was incredible! Still has an amazing voice and hit every note! It was especially nice seeing her in such an intimate setting. And she was nice enough to meet with my friend and I after the show and take a few pics. She couldn't have been more humble or gracious. Never understood how or why she didn't go on to bigger fame.

I think she would make a great Dolly, but not sure her name would carry the show.

Linda continues to release cds and tours the US and has been for many, many years. She's one of my all time favorites.

"Jekyll & Hyde" was her only Broadway musical. She's said many times that she would love to do a Broadway musical again, but 8 shows a week she just can't imagine doing that again. LOL!

Thanks everyone! I think she would be a great 'alternate' for one or two shows a week for a star performer (such as Donna Murphy for Bette Midler currently) if she doesn't want to be bogged down to eight shows a week. Glad to hear she's doing concerts and still recording regularly.
