gstrus2: Do you think Jersey Boys might wait for the 2016 Tonys? It was a fall show and won during the '05-'06 awards season -- same reason Wicked did their ten-year anniversary last year instead of in 2013.
I can halfway understand the impetus to employ medleys for new shows. To suggest the range and flavor of a brand new score. But the classics are best served by a focus on one beloved song. Trying to include nominees to provide exposure/airtime seems counterproductive.
Maybe the current cast of Jersey Boys are gonna be performing this year since next year is gonna be the 70th Tony Awards where they're probably gonna have a lot more to celebrate then.
Based on recent box office trends, I wouldn't call it 100% certain that Jersey Boys will still be playing next June.
I don't get why Fun Home is just doing Ring of the Keys. What about Judy Kuhn (who's currently the favorite to win, right) and Emily Skeggs?
Does anyone know if JCM's speech will be televised?
Just because someone's nominated, doesn't mean they can perform. I would love a massive Fun Home medley but they went for a more "singular" performance. Just look what happened with Book of Mormon they had 4 acting noms and only Andrew Rannells performed.
^And Nikki M. James ended up winning.
Jersey Boys is doing December, 1963 (Oh What A Night).
I'd say the chances of JCM's speech being televised in full are zero.

Because it is a great song that tells a story on its own and Lucas performs it so incredibly well?
