Posted: 3/11/09 at 1:16amNot all Vegas shows are shorter. Chicago and Mamma Mia were full-length, for example. From what I hear, Lion King going to be full-length as well. As to the souped up-ness, haven't heard anything special about it, but I doubt it. Phantom is really the only show that got "souped up" (pretty spectacularly, btw), the rest have just been edited.

Posted: 3/11/09 at 1:20amI love what they did with Phantom and hoped they might add a little zip to Lion King.

If you read the press releases they state that the production will be virtually identical to the others playing around the world so we are to assume there will be no cuts made.

Posted: 3/11/09 at 10:35amNo cuts would make sense since Lion King is taking the place of Mamma Mia, which was full length.

I have no idea how big the theatre is, so unless it's huge, then i dont think they will do anything special, except maybe have a bigger stage and an extra pair of light box wings.
Or if they will decorate the theatre in a similarly stylised african way. I took a look at the hotel on MSN live (similar to google earth) and it looks like their "theatre" is a seperate building off to the side and it looks average size to me.

Posted: 3/11/09 at 12:33pmnot yet, but I hope they dont take away Kissy Simmons from the Broadway company, she is a great Nala. (although she has been doing it for a long time)

Well they just did, drats.
But hey, I saw her replacement as AIda and she wasnt too bad.
From the digging i was able to do, I doubt anything will be different about the show. The stage looks about standard size and they have a 2 storey basement so Pride Rock will be rising up, hopefully It will do like the Hamburg one and rise up as one intact unit and not have to collapse like the Broadway and London one.
Also the theatre does not have a balcony, It's like a stadium bleachers, so lots of room for the "kite birds". Maybe they will do some artsy projections to make it more atmospheric since there is no balcony to block anyone's view of the ceiling.

According to the Disney on Broadway website, it is the wonderful Ta'rea Campbell.
Hmm.. Dashaun Young and Ta'rea Campbell on one stage.. SO tempting!! Drat!
