just from watching this video I realized how many simmilaraties there are between these two shows. They are pretty much the exact same plot lines and endings. The genie is pretty much a composite character of pumba and timon. Scar and jafar have literally the exact same intentions and even have their names rhyme. Disney really needs to create something more unique and creative instead of copying their own works

It's a stretch...

Disney didn't create Aladdin any more then they created Sleeping Beauty or The Little Mermaid.
Many fairy tales follow a similar basic plot line. That's more likely why you feel The Lion King and Aladdin are "the same show" then Disney copying their own works.

Except the Disney Aladdin has almost zero resemblance to the folk tale its based on.

It's wrong for Aladdin to copy Lion King but it's okay for Lion King to have the same plot as Hamlet?

I'm confused cause I don't see the parallels at all.

Can you please explain to me how the plot lines are even remotely the same? Yes they both follow the story of a young boy who becomes the king/sultan in the end, but their motivations aren't remotely similar, nor are the actual paths they take to get there (i.e the PLOT LINE of the movie). The only similarities are on such a broad, basic level that there's no real point in even comparing them.
Scar and Jafar are somewhat similar, I admit, but even still, both of them are such broad archetypes that it hardly brings anything to light by comparing these 2 specific villains.

True, but you gotta remember that this is Disney we're talking about here. Many of the original fairy tails/folk stories that are Disney animated classics have been heavily altered in terms of plot from their original source material.

The Disney version of Aladdin is heavily based on the movie The Thief of Baghdad.
Anyway, this is an utterly ridiculous question unless you want to step all the way back into some Joseph Campbell "All stories are the same" jive.

Um. Also, Aladdin is an older film than The Lion King...

Are people trying to still make that a thing? LOL I guess it sounds smart if you've never read or seen Hamlet, but based on their similarities, then maybe The Lion King has the "same plot" as The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub which has the "same plot" as The Empire Strikes Back which has the "same plot" as Hamlet. In any event, even if it was a deliberate adaptation of a Shakespearean play, then yes, like countless others in book, play, film and musical theatre forms, it would be okay.

I'm well aware that practically every Disney adaptation differs greatly from the source material.
