Lisa Brescia in "Wicked"

Just wondering if she was still a part of the cast. I saw her in April and she was amazing but I noticed that she wasn't included in the cast listing on the web site

re: Lisa Brescia in 'Wicked'

They've never put Lisa Brescia up on the website for some reason.

She is still with the company and will be going on for a week next month during Julia Murney's vacation.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

To be specific, Caissie will be going on as Elphaba for the July 2 and 3 performances. Lisa will be for all the rest of the performances druing Julia's vacation, with Caissie as the standby.

re: Lisa Brescia in 'Wicked'

I'm seeing Lisa Brescia for the second time on July 5th and then seeing Julia Murney for the third time on July 12th.

And yes, Feeling Electric is correct regarding those dates about who is going on as Elphaba and when.

re: Lisa Brescia in 'Wicked'

I'm assuming Lisa is not listed for the same reason why Cherry Jones' standby in Doubt (Lizbeth McKay) wasn't listed. They can choose not to be, as to not detract from the lead performer.

re: Lisa Brescia in 'Wicked'

I just saw Lisa Brescia in Wicked this past Sunday (6/24/2007), and I thought she was quite good.

Lisa is indeed still part of the cast, and those dates are correct as to when she's performing. I was hoping to get the opportunity to see her go on again, but just simply can't afford to do so.

Lisa's performance is different, but wonderful. She really shows Elphaba's changes.

I saw Lisa as Elphaba last month and was very impressed.

Does anyone know when Julia Murney gets back from her vacation and continues in Wicked?

re: Lisa Brescia in 'Wicked'

Lisa is doing the performances this Thursday through Sunday. Julia returns to the show on Tuesday, July 10th. (I'm seeing it on the 4th and the 12th!)

re: Lisa Brescia in 'Wicked'

I've always found it strange that Lisa wasn't listed on the website. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think every Elphie standby has been listed on the website. (Colleen Sexton is even listed TWICE). Why would she choose not to be listed there? If she never goes on no one would even know she was there.

Is she in the Playbill?

My friend was up there in mid-May and all they had was an insert re: Lisa Brescia in 'Wicked'

Bear with me, but how do you know when Lisa Brescia will be performing and when Julia Murney will be back?

re: Lisa Brescia in 'Wicked'

Have you seen both takes on the role? I'm not trying to be sarcastic but I really want to know what the differences are between the two.

re: Lisa Brescia in 'Wicked'

Lots of times people who have graduated to playing lead roles don't want it to be known that they've gone back to understudying/standing by.

Believe it or not, there are plenty of people in the industry who don't read this board. This is most likely Lisa/her agent's way of having it both ways...she gets to make some money and work her way into Wicked without it being widely known.

I assume this is also why Leslie Kritzer isn't listed as a Paulette cover in Legally Blonde, even though she has obviously been on.

"I assume this is also why Leslie Kritzer isn't listed as a Paulette cover in Legally Blonde, even though she has obviously been on."

It has been stated many times that Kritzer only went on because she fit the costumes. She isn't a Paulette cover so that is why she isn't listed as one.

re: Lisa Brescia in 'Wicked'

The fact that it has been stated here doesn't mean it's true.

Do you really think they would have thrown on someone with no rehearsal just for the sake of costumes?

Kritzer wasn't initally contracted to cover Paulette, but she was added as one a few weeks before she went on. She had done at least one full understudy rehearsal.

When Orfeh's voice blew out that day, the costume issue might have been what made the final decision as to who went on for the evening performance a couple hours later, but it was certainly not the first time anyone thought of putting Leslie on for Paulette.

Trust me.

Has anyone here seen Wicked in Chicago recently? I just saw it last night, and Erin Mackey(Galinda) was absolutely amazing...She blew everyone away!
