Does anyone know if Tyler Maynard is going to be playing the role of Flotsam in the Broadway cast? I know he did the demo, but is there any word on whether or not he will be in the show?
There is one way to ensure that casting information is not leaked and Disney, being the business behemoth it is, would have made everyone sign a non-disclosure. If someone leaked info to the press, that person can pay a fine, be fired or have their contract canceled or renegotiated.
So...if you work for a production company, and post on this board, be sure you aren't violating any legal documents you signed at employment. You just might get yourself in trouble :)
Ok here is what is "official" according to the press release and the most recent interview with Norm Lewis. Probably old news by the time I finish typing this.
Ariel-Sierra Boggess
Triton-Norm Lewis
Ursula-Sherrie Rene Scott
Scuttle-Eddie Korbich
These are the rumors-
Sebastian-Titus Burgess(sp?)
Erik-Sean Palmer (I have heard this from a reliable source so I am pretty sure this is more than a rumor)
Flounder-Cody Hanford
Flotsam-Tyler Maynard (basically only because he is on the DEMO)
I would imagine that there will be. I would imagine that this is going to be a pretty strenuous show on the actors, so it would make sense that the children cast would be sharing the role.
I still think it is a shame that sharon mcnight is not going to be Ursula. She is so the voice I think of when I hear the character.
Well the "big" Ursula is obvously going to be a puppet or something.
Are they gonna have to perform on the flying trapeze? just wondering...

Actor-singer-songwriter Tituss Burgess, recently seen as the Cowardly Lion in Des Macnuffs re-imagining of The Wiz, will be featured in the March 12 Artcents Benefit Concert at The Triad in Manhattan. The concert series, sponsored by ASTEP (Artists Striving To End Poverty), usually seeks to expose emerging songwriters, but this time out R and B, pop covers and a few musical theatre songs remixed will be performed. The price of admission is a jar of change — to help bring change to the lives of kids in need.
Joining Burgess will be guest appearances by Marty Thomas (Wicked, Secret Garden), and Cassondra Kellam. Burgess will be backed by a 7 peice band and the evening will be musically directed by Mary-Mitchell Campbell ( Company music supervisor/orchestrator).
Burgess most recently appeared on Broadway in the original casts of Jersey Boys and Good Vibrations. He has also released a solo CD called Here's to You which is available on Itunes and Cdbaby.com. For more information visit www.titussburgess.com.
The concert begins at 7 PM. There is also a two-drink minimum. The Triad is on New York's Upper West Side at 158 W. 72nd St.
Reservations can be made by calling (212) 706-1516 or by sending an email to tickets@createsomethinggood.org.
All proceeds from the concert benefit ASTEP. Visit www.createsomethinggood.org to learn more.
If you live in NYC .. GO SEE THE SHOW!!!!!! HE HAS SOME BIG THINGS COMING UP!!!!!!
So extremely pumped for Sherie, Norm, and Eddie in their respective roles. Man, I just can't wait to hear Sherie sing Poor Unfortunate Souls... I know there has been alot of controversy surrounding the casting of the Big Purple Behemoth, but good GOD i'm excited about it!
I did a show with Tituss Burgess last summer...
he is truely amazing and one of the nicest people!

Flotsam-Tyler Maynard (basically only because he is on the DEMO)
Considering his "history" with Disney (Valentine-MP, it wouldn't suprise me.
I hope this Disney show is actually good.
Does anyone know who sings the part of Jetsom on the DEMO?
"Sweet Child" was my absolute favorite added song from the demo, with "Her Voice" and "If Only (Reprise)" following close behind.
But really, Sweet Child was beautifully creepy! I hope they retain the two people who sang it for the stage production!
No kidding MovieGuy! I just uploaded the DEMO this weekend and I couldn't stop listening to 'Sweet Child'. It's super creepy but wonderful to hear; especially with the actors who sang the song. They were amazing!

Amen, the eels are already a dream role of mine.
so... is any of you that are in NYC planning on going to Tituss's Show?? I SO wish I could make it out for the show!!!!
I'm wondering about Sherie's costume and make-up.....Anyone think she will be a purple version of Elphaba? I can't wait, I love this casting.
Lukeboy,
I've been wondering about that since I first heard the rumor. I'm so excited about her being cast, but, as for making her Ursula, I am VERY curious as to how they're gonna pass her off as a HUGE. OBESE. PURPLE. OCTOPUS!
And I know several people have mention the demo song "Wasting Away" (Which I have interpreted to be sarcastic...) and a rumor that Ursula will be "More glamorous", I don't know... I don't think it will work if Ursula isn't a massive being. I mean, really, no one wants to see Morgana from LMII:Return to the Sea, we want URSULA! If we wanted the former, we could just have Julia Murney walk over after Wicked, strap on some tentacles, and head right onstage.
P.S.~ If you've seen LMII, you know what I mean. *shudder*
I think she is gonna be inside some kind of puppet.
Out of interest, who was Sebastian in the demo workshop? Can find all the other principals, but not him. O_O

I heard that Ursula is being changed to a more seductive character, but I'm not for sure on it
As long as she's fat, purple, evil, AND seductive, thats fine.

I think what they want to change about Ursula is that they don't want her to based on Divine. I think they basing her more on a Patti LuPone type character.
