Do you think we will ever see another off-Broadway or Broadway production of it again? I think it deserves to be given another go off Broadway.

An Off-Broadway revival would be grand.

It's surprisingly hard to get truly right. The Encores production was so unbelievably special, I'd be afraid to see the show again for a while.

I think so as well. One that stays true to the heart and soul of the original production and intentions of Howard Ashman. If there ever were to be a Broadway production again, I think circle in the square would work if the seating was reconfigured, or possibly the Helen Hayes Theatre. It really deserves to have another great production and I think less is more.

I'd love to see a production with Annaleigh Ashford as Audrey and Tamika Lawrence, Asmeret Ghebremichael, and Joaquina Kalukango as the Urchins. Cast stars as Seymour and Orin to sell tickets, and maybe Danny Burstein as Mushnick? He's a little young but he'd kill the score.

In what way has Broadway sucked "Little Shop" dry? There was one Broadway production and that was produced 12 years ago.

I just saw a workmanlike production of Little Shop played very straight. Seymour was your basic hot nerd but brought out an interesting streak of self-loathing in the second act. Audrey didn't imitate Ellen Greene, but she didn't add much flavor to the role either.
Does anyone have a favorite, non-Ellen Greene, Audrey? Does the role work if it's played tough and scrappy? Has the Audrey/Orin relationship been played more sexual, suggesting she's a masochistic participant? Or has someone played it sweet and ditzy without channeling Greene?
