If it will ever open AGAIN on Broadway?
Not if producers want to waste money and send their reputation to hell...it flopped on Broadway and was not as good as it could have been. Had some spectacular performances, however.

I mean, Denzel Washington? Gun to my head..of course.

I saw it. It will never return. EVER.
It would have been a better play, every time they started to sing it stopped the story from moving.

I've long felt that Little Women could make a splendid musical. The one that played on Broadway recently was anything but splendid, however. There's a new Little Women musical opening in Seattle either late this year or next year. I really hope it can do justice to the material.

the overture and the first song are very exciting. It's what made me want to see the musical

I saw it when it played Fort Lauderdale. The overture was wonderful and it was all downhill from there. Story not
interesting, music just not that good, staging just not that interesting. In fact, its one of the first time I left at intermission.

Of course. the Broward Sentinel critic loved it. Go figure.

They're doing a non-equity tour of it that starts soon. I think later this year.

"I thought that that was just going to be a like one shot deal for me, you know, but they kept talking about it like, 'when we do the production, when we do the production', and I was like, 'yes, yes, when you do the production, cool, I will come and see it'". - John Gallagher Jr. on SA

A very underwhelming show with some great performances of often lovely material. I listen to the CD relatively often, but would not really have any interest in seeing the show revived or on tour.

Good show, nothing spectacular. Saw the tour 5 times because the cast was so good.

I saw the tour and I have to disagree and say that the show is quite beautiful. All shows have their flaws, but for me, Little Women has very few. The book is wonderful for the chanlenge that it sets out on for having to turn that book into a musical and condencing it for a two hour running time. The music and lyrics are highly under appreciated and do an amazing job of creating a classical sound while at the same time bringing in a new audience with a more modern pop flavor. The sets for the tour were incredible and created an atmosphere for the show that I will never forget. Maureen McGovern was the highlight for me delivering a dynamite performance. It’s just one of those shows that people “love to hate” I suspect because their friends hate it or people here bash it so other feel the need to do so as well.

I went in knowing nothing of the show apart from the CD and was very moved. I left feeling better about the state of the American musical and that had never happened to me before. Obviously, that’s just my opinion and there are plenty of people here who disagree, but that doesn’t really bother me. I’m proud to have this little secret gem of a show to call my guilty pleasure.

It felt like a show where the songs were written long before the libretto, as if someone spotted places where songs could go rather than where they SHOULD go. The music also felt very Disney-esque.

The CD plays better than the show, though.

I'll also never understand a few of the changes they made, such as having Jo take Beth to the seashore. And how they missed a deathbed scene in a musical is astonishing. :)

I would call it an enjoyable evening but nothing grea and not up to what the source material warrants.

all i remember from this show was that years had passed in the storylines and the people were wearing the same clothes and looked exactly the same.

and that the people were too cheap to sew a patch on the back of Jo's dress and yet still insisted on talking to us about it for a whole scene.
