I'm looking for anyone who has a video of "Liza With A Z"...I have been looking for quite some time now and can't seem to find a copy of this anywhere!!! help!!
it only exists at the museum of tv and radio or a bootleg. i have never found it myself.
It isn't on VHS or DVD at all...if you're into downloading things, you could try looking for it on WinMX, which is where I downloaded it from a while back. Good luck!
Liza with a Z not Lisa with an S...
Damn You, now it's in my head!!!
So funny you should ask - I was just wishing for it myself the other day. Was watching some old Fosse stuff on the PBS Bway series and dying to see little Shirley Devore one more time. Also loved the tape of the concert she did with a bunch of middle-aged semi-tappers (like me) - what was the name of that one again?
The one with all the tappers is Live at Radio City Music Hall and it is GREAT.
My friend did that Liza monologue from radio city about her father, for an audition once, and I almost freaking pissed my pants.
Back in the day, I wanted to BE Liza. But then I'd have to marry David Gest which I know I would not enjoy one bit.
The middle-aged tappers show was a concert following her making of the film of Stepping Out and featured some of that cast as well - and may have been called Stepping Out as well.
don't understand why you are calling them tappers. the women are mostly all excellent singers and do much more in that Radio City concert than tap...in fact...I don't recall a tap sequence in the radio city concert,,,,,lots of dance and stuff, but I don't think there is a single tap dancing number at all.
p.s........
A few years ago I bought from a private collector a copy of Liza's first Carnegia Hall concert(which she toured before and after Carnegie Hall--I believe the video may be officially called LIZA LIVE IN NEW ORLEANS), anyway it is the Carnegie Hall concert with Roger Minami as Arthur in the Afternoon, and Obba Babbatunde, who sings Mr. Cellophane while Liza is changing. It is a masterful concert. Bobbysworld, I bought the video of this concert from this guy and I will try to locate his email info and stuff because he likely has LIZA WITH A Z.
I certainly meant no disprespect. In my fond memory, they tap. Or maybe that's Ann Miller. I'm getting a little bit old. Think I'll go take a Gingko Biloba now.
There is a huge tap sequence in Radio City; Liza and her "demon divas" tap to "Stepping Out" and it's at least ten minutes long if not longer.
The Liza concert Tony is talking about ( the New orleans one)is available on Laser Disc and through ebay. Also; the reason a lot of people think of those dancers in the Radio City show as tappers is becausethat particular tour coincided with the release of the film "Stepping Out." And yes.. there is a tap sequence in it. This past summer in a concert in Atlanta; Lizas bio stated that "Liza with a Z" was being remastered and would be out soon on DVD. But I haven't heard anything about it since. I just re-watched my old video copy of it the other day. It is truly marvelous.
Oh joy, then the longterm memory is still functioning! I'm really in the mood to see these concerts now. Please post here when you locate a source! Thanks

Be patient for just a little while. I'm part of her fan club and just recently Liza had a private screening of the remastered dvd of "Liza with a Z." It will very likely come out within the next year. She's also mentioned this in interviews etc.

I adore Liza with a Z! Heck, I adore anything Liza's in. BobbyBubby, I now need to take a cold shower because of your avatar.
Bumping this thread as I'm seeing Liza this Saturday at the Hollywood Bowl. In preparation, I was listening to a few of her live albums and was wondering if anyone knew who the 12 "Demon Divas" were from the Radio City Hall show. Can't find anything that lists the performers.
I have the VHS at home. I'll check the cover tonight. Off the top of my head, one of them is Terri White, from the recent Follies revival.
Thanks Artscallion. That's exactly the type of thing I was wondering.

I LOVE THAT WOMAN!!!!
I have it on dvd. I remember ordering it a couple of years ago. It's "groovy." from RC in Austin, Texas. P.S. Anyone...please send us some rain. Much obliged.
I saw this show at Radio City and when she toured it at the Greek. I believe the dvd was shot in a return engagement to Radio City. Fab show.
Anyone know what type of show she is doing for the Bowl? I've seen her a lot over the years, so I know I won't be disappointed. Just curious.
