Interesting. I guess Dee Hoty's voice lends itself very well for this style of musical, from the little I've heard it's a style similar to WILL ROGERS FOLLIES and THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE IN TEXAS and its sequel.

Is this connected to the Seattle production? That is in the fall as well.

EDIT: The article confirms Seattle as the tryout. I wasn't interested but I adore Dee Hoty.

I really had no interest in this until Robert Cuccioli was mentioned in the cast. I think he's great.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

The Belasco has not fared that badly of late. Oh sure, it has had its share of bombs. Given that it is a less desirable house, due to its location and second balcony, it quite often has to house the charity case shows that can't get a better booking.

Still, it has had two Tony Award winning play revivals in the past two years - Awake and Sing, and Journey's End (a critical hit, even if audiences stayed away). Julius Caesar, with Denzel Washington, may have been a critical failure, but it was a financial hit. Frankie and Johnny was another financial hit (as long as Edie Falco and Stanley Tucci were in the cast). Ralph Fiennes won a Tony for his Hamlet, which played at the Belasco. Janet McTeer and the revival of A Doll's House also won Tonys there.

Now, if you want a REAL flop house, take a look at the Longacre's recent history. Apart from the limited run of Diana Rigg's Medea, it hasn't had a hit since Children of a Lesser God in 1980.

Also the woman in blue, who is spotted more often these days than Belasco.

Now, why is Beth Leavel not part of this? Anyone know? She was THE reason to see this show when it was playing off-bway, and she is the best thing about the CD.

TREASURE ISLAND can easily take the Cort or the Lyceum.

Hasn't Belasco stopped haunting the house since Oh! Calcutta?
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

I wonder if they'll record it again? I'm intrigued because I didn't realize this was even happening.

re: Lone Star Love confirmed for Broadway

I saw an article that they added a half dozen new songs so they might. I hope so now that Bob Cuccioli is involved.
