Bumping to find out if anyone has the 30 under 35 promo code lying around that you wouldn't mind PMing to me? I long ago deleted the email with the link, when I didn't think I'd be able to see this. Really enjoy Kelly AuCoin in Billions so hoping to squeeze it in to a trip in a few weeks! Thanks in advance!

Posted: 5/31/19 at 11:28pmI wouldn’t call it horrendous, but it wasn’t that good of a play. It kept my attention somewhat, the actors are all excellent, but in the end I find myself asking what was the point?! None of the characters have any redeeming qualities, certain events that happen would have inevitably happened regardless, and the end kinda undermines everything that came before. The set was pretty good though!

I also wouldn't call the production horrendous, but I did find it kind of weak. At least yesterday, a solid ensemble couldn't generate much excitement, given the play's generally flat, predictable dialogue and mostly cliched story. There was one moment where two characters stared each other down, practically nose-to-nose, and I genuinely wondered what would happen next -- would the play take a turn in some new direction? But it didn't. It moved on to just the sort of conclusion I (and probably many other audience members) expected.
I don't mean to suggest that such predictability is, in itself, a bad thing -- the unsurprising ending was also believable and totally justifiable. And, to be fair, it caused me to think that I should try being nicer and more understanding to people close to me. So, unlike most plays, this one actually had a positive practical effect in my life. I just didn't find it particularly good as entertainment.

The other board has a much different and better reaction. I am going opening night and looking forward to it.

Deciding between this and Hillary and Clinton to round out the trip I'm most likely going to make next weekend. Despite the fairly tepid/limited response here, I'd be more into it for the cast anyway. I'm confident I'll have more opportunities to see Laurie Metcalf and John Lithgow on stage in the future - I've also never seen Lithgow on stage before but it doesn't sound like H&C is a must-see production either. Plus after seeing Maggie Siff a few weeks ago in Curse of the Starving Class, it allows me to keep the Billions streak alive!

Posted: 6/4/19 at 10:47pmI havent seen Long Lost, but go see Hilary and Clinton. Metcalf is incredible!! Especially if youve never seen her on stage! The show itself, I really enjoyed and her ending monologue is just gorgeous. And loved Manteos direction.
