All of the closings! So sad.

Wow.
Really sad...even though a majority of these shows didn't exactly float my boat, it's sad to see so many close on the same day and all basically for the same reason.
That's a little too much to handle right now.
With so many houses now dark, there are less shows to choose from to go see. Perhaps AVENUE Q can make it through the rough patch?

Ugh. That's heartbreaking.

As sad as it is, some of those headlines are simply hilarious, especially 13's.

This really is a horrible day. Sadly, the rest of the 2008-2009 Season isn't looking so good either. Too many shows are having investor problems.
Damn! I was hoping for a happy(ier? Less sad? I don't know.) homepage.

Thaaaaaaat's SHOWBIZ, kids.
People outside NYC, support your local regional non-profits in the meanwhile, like North Shore Music Theatre, which is in dire danger of closing its doors for good.
And you won't be paying $100+ per ticket-in addition to all the other outrageous things you have to pay for just to see New York theatre.
LOL!!
I feel like that homepage is enough to push some of you towards suicide... jeeze. Chill, folks!
Shows come and go. Economy sucks. It happens. Broadway has been through this before.
P.S. "13"s headline is hilarious!! I love it!
I agree that it is sad. However, at least there are 2 positive headlines on there. Like the 39 Steps is only closing for about 2 weeks so it can move into the Helen Hayes Theatre. And Rock of Ages is closing to make its Broadway transfer.
It's really unfortunate that DIVIDING THE ESTATE couldn't extend. That play was terrific.
And I truly hope that WHITE CHRISTMAS comes back, with the four leads intact, next season. I only got to see it once, and it was just glorious.
It is sad, pretty harsh all at once or at least over the next 2 weeks.
I was in the city over Christmas with everything humming along. It will be quite different on the 17/18.

And yes, these things happen, but that doesn't mean folks can't be sad about the slaughter.
Yeah, I'll be at Phantom on the 17th, and the only other theater I can think of being open on 44th street on that date is the Broadhurst with Equus. This is going to be so weird.
