Amen Doc. I think it is witty and original. It's not like the show is PG.
"People that excel in the arts understand that the journey is the reward...the result an added bonus. Every day I act or train is a blessing and a dream come true. If Broadway beckons so be it. I have a personal definition of success that is unshakable by a possibly unobtainable goal." -HamletWasBipolar

Think of it from a character stand-point, though. Sammy isn't exactly the most.. elegant of speakers. Just look at the rest of the speech. He stumbles over words and has problems thinking of what to say the whole time in that part of the scene. Of course, I wasn't there so what I'm saying may be completely invalid, but eh.

about what piratesmile said, didnt W.S. get 53% attendance, and T.P. get 43%?
anyway, what Constantine said about the priest when he was a kid sounds very funny! did it get a lot of laughs?

bwayondabrain, it's not percentage that matters. It's the amount of $$ grossed weekly. No, Producers didn't do much better, but that still has the longevity factor. It's played for 5 years and made all it's money back. Wedding Singer is tanking and has made zip. Out of 8 shows, WS sold 5,974. Their 8-show capacity is 11,376. The Producers can afford a few down weeks. WS can't.

Why did most of the shows take such a hit this week? TWS was not the only one that did badly.
I was there on Saturday, and there were only a couple empty seats that I could see. I'm hoping the numbers look better next week. This show is hilarious. I'd like to see it again and hope to have the chance to do so.

No more tourists, kids are back to school, etc. It's typical and expected this time of year.

*shrug* Just my opinion. I didn't like the line, and most of the people I was with thought it was a little too much. Let me rephrase - Sammy may not be the most elegant of speakers, but that ad lib was not organic to the character whatsoever. It sounded awkward to the character.
Also, in my opinion, it took away from the rest of his speech. The people around me were very much focused on that joke, and missed much of the speech that followed. It was too distracting.
Again, opinion.

I really enjoyed Constantine when I saw him. The things he does in "Right in Front of Your Eyes" are hysterical...
However, the line about the father and him was a little inappropriate. I had seen him do two other ad libs and both of them were much funnier and flowed smoother. I do agree though, that only Sammy could pull off such a line because he is so crass. Constantine's Sammy is definitely very crude...he makes it dirtier than either Matthew or David and it was really funny most of the time....that line just didn't sit well with me.

im sure most of u are gonna say matthew, but i could be wrong.

Honestly? Constantine's take on Sammy is actually a lot more different than Matthew's. There were some aspects of Matthew's Sammy that I missed when I saw Constantine, but a lot of things Constantine did that I really liked, too. I've seen Matthew 6 times and Constantine only once, and for me? Most of the time no one can beat the original.
But I have been proven wrong in some cases, and happily so!

Any reviews on the girl with golden hair? Did she get a new wedding dress yet?

Phantom, I don't think she's going to get a new one, no matter how often you ask.

I'm pretty sure that's definatly the cause, which sucks. But Broadway will hopefully do better next week.

But Broadway will hopefully do better next week.
