Even though they say the only stupid questions are the ones that go unasked, I have a feeling this is stupid, but anyways...

One time I went to NYC randomly. The person I was with was going back home in NJ, so he had to catch a bus at Port Authority. He had one duffle bag and a backpack. We weren't gonna see a show, but it made me wonder. If we had wanted to be spur of the moment and see a show, is there anywhere you can leave a couple of bags with the theater? I know they'd probably won't let you bring two bags into the theater, which is why I'm asking this.

Also, would it be different at the Marquis since it is a hotel, if we wanted to see Drowsy?

Well, they have coat check at all shows (I think) And they would have no choice but to check them, if you paid to get in.

I saw The Producers two weeks ago and had a decent sized duffle bag with me because I had just spent a few days at a friends house and was headed home right after the show. I tried to check the bag, but was told that I could just take it to my seat if I wanted. Luckily I had an aisle seat on the far side so it didn't become a bother to anyone around me.

When I saw the Hairspray tour here in Los Angeles, Tracy (poor Marissa) almost ate floor because some woman left a gigantic big-brown-Jessica-Simpson-esque purse in the aisle next to her. She had it in her lap when the ushers came around to make sure the aisle was clear, then, right before they run down to the stage from the back of the house, put it back in. Poor, poor Marissa.

When do they run down? I guess they didnt do that on tour here.

When I saw Mamma Mia in NYC I saw a matinee and I had just been shopping and I had a bunch of shopping bags and they let me take them to my seat. I didn't really think anything of it.

Right before "You Can't Stop The Beat," I think. If I remember correctly, Amber, Velma, and Corny are onstage and I think Amber's about to be crowned because Tracy is absent, and voila, she busts through the back of the house.

Oh sounds cool. I guess we dont have a center aisle in our theater, we have two side ones, so maybe that's why?

Hmm... no, we had two side aisles (a left section, a middle section, and a right section), like standard theatres. They ran up on the stage left stairs/aisle. Odd. Maybe they stopped it in your city after Marissa almost ate carpet over here. re: Luggage at Theaters

i've seen actual luggage taken into theatres. If it's very large, you will be told that the house manager or someone else will have to inspect the bag first, but usually you will be allowed to take it to your seat if they believe it will fit and not be in anyone's way, or if not, they'll allow you to leave it at the coat check. I have a hard time imagining they'd turn anyone away for simply having a large bag with them.

Well on Broadway there's two center aisles on either side of the center section with a left and right section. Anyway, I know that Seaweed runs down the left center aisle so when he climbs onto the stage its like hes climbing up Pennys house into her room to untie her.

When I went to london for the night we took a massive backpak full of stuff and we had no problem taking that into the theatre. They didnt even check it.
