Okay. I have a major, major problem with the latest crop of discount flyers that are being mailed, and by latest, I mean this has been going on for about a year now.
I'll start with the one I just got today. A discount flyer for COMPANY. And if anyone wants to use it, the code is CMDRM116
The flyer says orchestra from $99.00 (regularly $149 - $179) and mezz from $79.00 (regularly $99.00 - $179.00). I have just looked at multiple dates, and THESE PRICES DO NOT EXIST.
The discounted tickets for the worst seats in the orchestra are $109. For slightly better seats, they are $119.00.
And for the crappiest mezz seats possible, you will pay $89.00, not the $79.00 stated in the flyer. For slightly less crappy mezz seats, you will pay $109.00. If you are feeling brave, you can also pay $59.00 for a few sketchy looking mezz seats, and those are not even discount seats. I imagine they are obstructed or something.
And I am checking weeknights. I can only imagine what weekends are going for. Didn't even bother to look.
What is the point in sending out a discount flyer if the producers are not going to put up any seats priced as stated with the code?
I guess their greedy thinking must be - "We'll send out a code with fake prices, get them to the website, and then they will just say 'oh well, it's just ten or twenty dollars more than was stated - I'll just buy it.'"
I find this to be total greed and misinformation.
As mentioned, this has been going on for a while now. I'm just using COMPANY as an example.
The whole thing is pretty pathetic. GRRRRRRRRR.
