There are also so many times when I have to look up the lyrics to a song b/c I can't figure out what they are saying.....I always have a guess, but I'm usually wrong.
In "Great Big Stuff" on DRS, when Norbert shouts, "I can finally afford to see a Broadway Show", I thought the next thing he said was "Doubt!" for the longest time, meaning that this was the Broadway show he was going to see.....turns out it's Gout.
My friend's sister always thought that in Rent, when Mark and Roger are saying goodbye just before Roger leaves for Santa Fe, Mark, instead of saying, "I hate the fall", said "I hate the phone"
Anyone else have these problems? I think they're hilarious.
In Wicked..
My way: "I'd sooner die, defying gravity."
Real Way: "I'd sooner buy, defying gravity."

Wicked as well
My Way- So if you cannot find me
Correct Way- SO if you care to find me
Another one from Wicked:
My Way: "There are bridges you crossed you didn't know you crossed until you crossed"
Real Way: ...oh
One of the more notorious ones is the mysterious "neverson babies" of Rent. Refering, of course, to the line "nevers and maybes" in Out Tonight.
Yet another one from Wicked:
My way: It's time to try finding gravity
Real way: It's time to try defying gravity
(The stupid thing about that is that my way doesn't even fit in with the music)
Rent:
My way: All those voices in my hair
Real way: Angel's voice is in my ear
Rent:
My way: No good with romance
Real way: Looking for romance
Wicked
Real: Look to the western skies!
Mine: The witch of the west has died!
Wicked
My Way: GI JOEEEE!
Real Way: Die alone!

LMAO. There's an interview with Norbert on Broadway.com:
Best Fan Letter or Gift: "The letter that said, 'I really loved the show, but there's a moment in "Great Big Stuff" where you say, "I can finally afford a Broadway show" and then you say, "Doubt"… I wondered if every night you said a different Broadway show and I wondered why you said "Doubt" that night.' The actual lyric is 'Gout' and I thought, 'Jesus Christ. There are some sad people in the world.' I hung it up on the call board and let it sit there for days. People stared in disbelief."
I still don't understand the "gout" thing, what is it?

Thanks. I actually looked it up in the dictionary but it gave me little help.

Weird. Always thought it was DOUBT.
Funny thing is - I find "DOUBT" to be funnier than "Gout".
That is hilarious that Norbert got that letter! I swore forever that it was Doubt---My dad told me the other day that he had randomly gotten Gout (because he's been drinking a lot of red wine and rich foods, apparently) and I almost died laughing!
Theatertrash--I think Doubt is funnier too! Everytime we listen to DRS my sister and I scream out "Doubt!" instead because we like it better
In phantom original recording.......i think of me.....I always thoght raul said "She's really not a bitch" but is really "she's really not a bit, the corkish girl..."
I was like......that is mean to say that!

"Gout" makes no sense whatsoever. Stupid.

Wicked (once again):
Real - "A vicar with a thriving flock"
Heard as - "A vicar with a thriving cock"
...take that as you will
Also, not a misinterpretation on my behalf but the performers mistake in a production of Lippa's Wild Party:
Real - "Queenie was a blonde, and her age stood still"
Sung - "Queenie was a blonde, and her hair stood still"

Gawkish girl.
I always thought the "gout" line was "look out!" said very quickly. It actually makes more sense...
I thought of another
Little Women
My Way: "Better when I was poor..."
Real Way" "Better when I was home..."

It makes perfect sense. As mentioned above, gout is considered a 'rich man's disease' caused by eating exotic and rich foods, such as pates and organ meats (liver, sweetbreads, etc), anchovies, and scallops.
Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean it's 'stupid'. I think the line is rather clever.
lol, "gout" makes plenty of sense..Freddy is singing about wanting great big stuff, and him wanting to be as rich as Lawrence, gout is contracted when you eat too many fine and rich foods, wines, etc, so it would make sense that he would get gout if he got his great big stuff.

I always thought that she said "leopards and ladies" in Out Tonight instead of "nevers and maybies".
Wicked: "Popular"

"If I Can Dream" All Shook Up-
my way- "if i can dream of a better land, where all my brothers want candied ham..."
the right way- "if i can dream of a better land, where all my brothers walk hand in hand"
