I dont know if this is the exact lyric, but in RENT (i believe in Happy New Year B) Mimi sings:
"Thats not how you put-ed it all yesterday"
It may be "put it" .. but it sounds awful. One of my only complaints about that show.

OHhh i totally agree with that Rent line...I cannot stand it!
Oh and I also can't stand pretty much all of that song "Michael Jordan's Ball" from The Full Monty. It's just like beyond dumb!

Just about every line of "Carousel" makes me want to shoot myself. To wit:
"June is bustin' out all over
The ocean is full of Jacks and Jills,
With the little tail a-swishing'
Ev'ry lady fish is wishin'
That a male would come
And grab 'er by the gills!"
AUURRGGHHHH!!!!

is the line from WICKED:
"Nessa, Uh Nessa
I've got something to confess
A reason why..."
Its just very close together .. i dont know what it looks like in the lyrics in the CD, but i doubt its 'confessa'
anyway it is still a really bad line. Along with the "there are bridges you didnt know you crossed until you crossed." ugh

In "Dancing Through Life" when Boq is talking to Nessarose. I cringe when he says "Because...because...because you are so beautiful!"

For once I'm enjoying this board's preoccupation with Wicked. Has any lyric in that show been left uncriticized?

On the OBC of Rent, it sounds like Daphne says "That's not how you put-ed it all yesterday" when actually she says "That's not how you put it at all yesterday". There used to be a whole site for misheard Rent lyrics, and it was called "Neverson Babies". It comes from "Out Tonight", where Mimi sings, "And all the scars of the nevers and maybes". It sounds like she says "neverson babies."

GovernorSlaton, i actually came across that site awhile ago. Didnt read the "put-ed" one on there. Maybe it isnt. My favorite misheard lyric from the show is from I Should Tell you. It sounds like they say "dusting desire"
Wicked_Elphie: i actually like the line "Because you are SO beautiful", i havent listened to the cast recording in awhile, but i think it is because of the drums in the orchestrations. I cant remember if they come in right before that line or when Boq sings "Lets dance, (what?) Lets DAAAAAAAAAAAAAANCE"

I'm surprised no one so far has mentioned this horrendous lyric from "Christmas Bells" in RENT:
"she was more than ok
but i pushed her away
it was bad
i got mad
and i had...to get her out of my sight"
I cringe every time I hear it.

I always thought she was saying "And all the stars of the lovers and maybes". Is that site still up?

Can I ask why you love the bad/mad rhyme?

I was being sarcastic. Sorry. :)
It's like moon/June- one of those rhymes that feels like its been so much you want to avoid it at all costs.

Here's two really bad lines from the song "Light of the World" from Schwartz's GODSPELL:
But if that light's under a bushel
Brrrrrr, it's lost something kind of crucial.
But if the city's on the hill
It's kind of hard to hide it well.
Ol' Steven was strecthing for rhymes there.

Praying Decca Broadway will put "Don't Bother Me, I Can't Cope" on CD!

I realize what the lyrics are - it's the rhyme scheme that I hate...

Reason number 142 why Stephen Sondheim is the best lyricist of all time- he almost never does stuff like that.

I know, cause you'll see them all with me-e-ee...

Teehee. It's an endless foible of the online medium- you can't convey tone with anything but crude signifiers like smilies.

A lot of "Thank Goodness". Like, the part where she says, "There are bridges you crossed you never thought you crossed unti lyou crossed." The first time I listened to the cast recording I had to check the lyric booklet to see if that's what she really said.
Moo with me! And I was Elphaba the Good so if anything that I post sounds like her, it's because I am her!

Here's another one from RENT:
"Don't screen, Maureen
It's me--Joanne
Your substitute production manager
Hey hey hey!"
It's the "hey hey hey" that bugs me. Why is it there??
