The other thing I always think of when I think of bad lyrics is from "Mama Will Provide" in Once On This Island:
"but you will make it through
because i am liking you"
I am liking you?! What is that?
From JCS
"Prove to me that you're no fool, walk across my swimming pool"
and also
"Prove to me that you are divine, change my water into wine."
All I can say is ICK!
TheGirlinTheFrock-that wasn't me who posted that...it was Elphaba the Good...just to clear it up lol! I forgive you though. Oh and I agree with you btw.
I didnt read through all so forgive me if this is a duplicate..
"Good is evil, and therefore all evil is good."
Jekyll and Hyde
" 'Good is evil, and therefore all evil is good."
Jekyll and Hyde' "
Ohhh....that is AWFUL!
yes, but thankfully "Bring on the Men" is used more often than "Good 'N' Evil"...

Kiss Me Kate:
"I would gladly give up coffee for Sanka
Even Sanka, Bianca for you..."
GAH!
and there's this one word in "Magic to Do" from Pippin that no matter where you breathe or how you try to say the darn thing it always comes out as two words - i think it's "journey, journey to a spot eh-exciting, mystic and exotic..."
DRIVES ME NUTS!
heh
Yeah, I'm not big on Stephen Schwartz in general. The only song of his I like is "Day By Day."
From RENT:
"Let's go eat- I'll just get fat."
I witnessed a really bad Schwartzism today while I was watching "Pocahontas" for the first time in forever.
"[something, something] steady as the beating drum
Should I marry Kocoum?"
It doesn't even fit the rhyme scheme.

From Les Mis, The one that gets me everytime is when Eponine sings
Jee-ust the old man. . . .
*shudders*
"Schwartzism"?! Congratulations, Quibbler! You just coined a new word! In fact, I think that's what I'll call a really bad rhyme or use of a rhythm schme in songs from now on.
If the word "schwartzism" catches on, who knows? It might even make the dictionary!
Ooo... that reminds me from Les Miz... I've never understood this phrase...
"There is a room that's full of toys
There are a hundred boys and girls..."
It would be so pretty if it was "girls and boys" so it would rhyme with toys. I just don't get why they did it like that... ugh!

Wow, a neologism of your very own. And such a nice one, too. Congrats.
Ugh, I hate almost all the lyrics to Jesus Christ Superstar. Such shlock!
"What's the buzz, tell me what's happening" (what the hell?)
I also think most of the lyrics to Evita are equally silly (though I like the musical as a whole). What is wrong with Tim Rice???
Gethsemane has great lyrics, now. You have to admit that, now.
Yeah, I'll admit it for Gethsemane. Great belter song, by the way.
But the rest of JCS is just appalling. I was in the chorus, once, and it was dreadful having to sing those lyrics!
I absolutely love Miss Saigon, but on the OLCR, I cannot stand the way Simon Bowman sings "On the other side of the earth, there's a place where life still has worth". Its not that the line is horrible, i just don't like how he sings it. I like him on the rest of the CD though.
"Me and this girl here could be in the sack
for what it costs me to buy a Big Mac.' -- Miss Saigon
It's the worst lyric ever.

on the Les Mis OBCR Colm Wilkinson does these really annoying things with his voice that jut bug me! i can't really explain what lyric because he does it on like every song.
the thing I don't like about Colm Wilkinson, is that when he ends a line, he sounds like he yawns. Like, it is deep in his throat and very breathy

yeah that's kinda what i meant. sometimes he sounds like he echos the last syllable too.
Here is one from "Cyrano"
Cyrano is lots of fun, Lots of fun for every nun!
Whats THAT about?!?
it took me awhile to get used to Colm Wilkinson. especially during the end of "Who Am I?" when he goes "24601(Nuh!)" but it really doesn't bother me that much anymore. i prefer Randal Keith, though.
I do agree about that line in Miss Saigon. it is incredibly forced and unispired.
