Posted: 8/23/10 at 5:50amI noted while viewing the magnificent version of "South Pacific" aired on PBS last week that the lyric to "Bloody Mary" was "Her skin is tender as DiMaggio's glove". In the film version I recall the lyric as "Her skin is tender as a baseball glove". Why was the lyric changed? Did DiMaggio refuse to give permission?

He's a public figure, there's no need for his "permission".
My GUESS? The movie wanted to keep it a little more "timeless" even though it is of a certain period.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
