Need a good musical for All boys school to perform.

My all-boys high school did Promises, Promises way back when. A theater lover was born.
Ann Miller in Mame on Broadway

Ann Miller tapping up a storm in the Great American Soup commercial is one of my all-time favorite things.

All the Andrea Martin videos!

This is one of my favorite Andrea Martin videos. It's got everything: Andrea Martin, Bernadette Peters, and a number from Follies. And they all blowed up, real good.

Timbuktu 1978

I saw Tumbuktu in Boston. It was one of the first musicals I ever saw. I remember Eartha Kitt's campy Eartha Kitt-ness, played to the hilt, was enjoyable. Mostly I remember the performance of Night of My Nights, up and down the aisles of the Shubert theater. It was a knockout, joyous and wonderful.
Follies Entr'acte

I found this funny clip from the early 80s on the subject of Bernadette Peters and her performance of a number from Follies.

CAROUSEL on Live At Lincoln Center Tonight at 9PM!!

I was impressed by Kate Burton's wicked excellent Boston accent.
A.R.T Pippin

I was excited to see this, and then the TV-movie version of the show from 1981 was on TV a few weeks ago and I saw it. I wish I hadn't. That was quite enough Pippin for me.

Plays Everyone Should Read

A few years ago, Sondheim called Green Grow the Lilacs a bleak play about homosexuality. The source for Oklahoma, a bleak play about homosexuality? I couldn't wait to read it.

It was so interesting to read Oklahoma in bleak play form. I was surprised to see that many words and images in the musical are also in the play. But even with all those cowboys I didn't see a trace of homosexuality. The point of the story seems to be that the farmer and the cowman should be friends. "Friends?" Hm

Smash -- Series Discussion

She should have gone to an acting school, that seems clear.
Lyrics That Sound Suggestive Out of Context

Musical based on TV series

The Honeymooners has already been a musical, sort of. The show was revived in the late 60s, in color, with musical numbers. I have only a faint memory of it. I couldn't find a clip online.
DVD

What the show needed was another S after the apostrophe: Jerome Robbins's Broadway.
Katie Finneran is Broadways new Hannigan.......

To me, Katie Finneran will always be the person who didn't show up at Promises, Promises the day I did.
