It seems as though the production of MACBETH running as part of the Manchester International Festival might transfer to Broadway. I love Kenneth Branagh and wouldn't pass up any opportunity to see him on stage but I think we need a different Shakespeare.

This season we had Alan Cumming performing the play solo. Next we'll have a production with Ethan Hawke at Lincoln Center. Is there a little too much MACBETH right now?

Nope. Never too much Shakespeare! I hope this happens, but rather it go to BAM than come to Broadway. Read a lot about this particular production and saw some of the beautiful production stills. To me it is a must see.

"Give me a Broadway transfer of the Tate/Tennant "Much Ado" and I'll be THRILLED!!"

Yes.

In LOOKING FOR RICHARD, Al Pacino mentions that RICHARD III is the most performed Shakespeare play, but I feel like MACBETH is right on its heels. Personally, I find both a little overrated and would much prefer some high talent productions of the great comedies (TWELFTH NIGHT, MEASURE FOR MEASURE). And I'm really looking forward to Frank Langella's LEAR.
